l am having this facial palsy for 3 months now , and l am using vit b12 which is very great especially that it can regenerate the myeline sheath which cover the nerve . And l strongly suggest the physiotherapy with short wave diathermy machines which can pass through the skin and stimulate the branches of the nerve , also some people tried acupuncture and it seems really cool in stimulating the nerve
they give corticosteriods to decrease immflamation around the cranial nerve that is causing the parylsis in someone with a new case of Bell's....some studies say B12 and B6 can help with nerve regeneration
My best wishes to the patient. But try seeing a competent doctor, sometimes facial paralysis might have an easily reversible cause (cholesteatoma, lipomas, etc...) or be a sign of a more serious condition. Good Luck!
Placing a monkey's bum on the affected side also heals the problem. I'm not making fun of this(but sarcasm); however I found very disrespectful a guy fooling around patients, claiming he can heal them.
Rough numbers. 70% of patients have complete recovery, 15% have a partial recovery, and the other 15% has no recovery. No clear factors have been identified for recovery prognosis besides AGE, DELAY OF PROMPT TREATMENT and TIME AFTER ONSET. The 3 of them negatively affecting recovery prognosis.
I've been using some concoctions, but mostly vitamin B12. It's really helped me, but i have a very mild case of it, so i don't know how benefical it would be to you. Worth a try, i guess? And steriods, like predisone, will work. Also they're are facial exercises, which i'm sure you've already tried. Hope this helps, and good luck to you! =]
@jlccc1313 I have had this occur as of today 4 times. Last time was 2 years ago. Why does this keep coming back? I thought 2 times was the usual for people to get it, if they get it..shouldn't return....but it can.
I had this when I was a teen and it lasted a month to 3, I can't recall exactly. But it did slowly go away. If he was on any medication before he got the palsy this sometimes can contribute to the disease. I hope he is well soon, for most it does go away on it's on in time. Best wishes.
i took meds for 10 days and it was gone in less then 2 weeks
