My late girl friend suffered from cystic fibrosis. This song would bring her out of some major coughing fits. She would be turning Blue and id have the phone dialed 9-1 with my finger over the one. I would put this song on and by the end she would be singing out loud and her her little 4'-10'' self would be standing 10 feet tall. That is when I became a firm believer in the power of music.Rest in Peace" Little" Michelle
I heard this for the first time yesterday, I cant believe that I've never heard this before...I play and replay this piece so much on my CD walkman just so I can sing it out loud on the street....
Three months ago I lost my mother...my heart is so heavy...as I stand by my companion, watching helplessly...as she now is losing her dear mother. There is no greater bond of love than that between a mother and her child....
@nealfager I'm not that computer savvy.... Do you know how to post this on Scotty's sites? I love the Tapestry album! I had in the '70's! I am worried about her style fitting into his music genre! I heard this song & Home Again, maybe Canaan. great minds think alike!! Ha! Ha! Vote for our Country Star!!!
This was the first album I got for myself when I was a young girl. I know every word to every song on the Tapestry album....this is the best song EVER...I sing it all the time. I sing it when I feel low and need to remember there will be another side to whatever is going on, I sing it when I lose someone....sang it at my grandmothers funeral...you had it right drumrollgold....the best blues and gospel can get...thanx for posting
This is my favourite song on this album. just beautiful and inspirational I lost my husband a couple of months ago and this is one of the songs that gets me through the day. Thanks Carole for the song.
this song reminds me of when i left my true love in austria, and came home to canada, I missed him so much and after 6 months had to go back there to find him, its really a beautiful song.......I'm now married to that man.
I used this song in a video for my son Dillon's Celebration of life R.I.P my sweet son Dillon! mommy misses you so much, your smiles, your beautiful soul...
I love you so much! until we meet again!!
Oct 16 1991 to Aug 4 2010.... I had 18 beautiful years with you!!!
what an amazing blast from the past...... quite an influence to 13 year old ears at the time....... post Janice Joplin and Jim Morrison passing is the time this takes me back to.....
This is so beautiful! I am listening to this while I watch my sweet, sweet son slip away! over yonder! where there is no pain or suffering! I love you my sweet boy Dillon!
If you've never heard this, the combination of the gospel back up and the guitar stylings of James Taylor, mixed with Carol's voice and pioano is a sprititual experience. "...then trouble's gonna loose me, worry, leave me behind, and I'll stand proudly in true piece of mind" Makes me think of Marting Lurther Jr.'s " I've got a Dream" speach.
I apologize for not having answered the previous posts. Apparently, this is a very moving song that can be a tribute to our loved ones. It also speaks volumes of our own desires after death. I have a hard time listening to this song, even though I downloaded it in my MP3 because my mother loved it so much. And, I heard an instrumental/jazz version that is also wonderful.
@pagandeva2000 I have always said that I want this played at mine too. this song really reflects what I expect on that day. Thank you God for giving us hope in eternity.
my grandma has been gone for 15 years i was seven when she passed this was played at her funeral, then just a few months ago my aunt died from a heart attack and this was her song also i love it makes me want to go over yonder no song could be more perfect may they rest in peace i cry everytime i look this song up . its just so touching.
this seems to be the least famous song from tapestry for some reason. i always considered it the centerpiece tho. go figure. its the only one i cant remember being recorded by others, unlike the rest of the album. anyone know any other versions?
@bobbyb826 Totally agree with you. 'Ya know...I never really payed much attention to this song WAY back when Tapestry came out. I love it now. If this song doesn't bring you to your knees, I cannot imagine what it would take!!!
I never paid much attention to this song either when I was growing up...I lost one of my best friends a few years back and for some reason yesterday on my early morning walk, i played this song over and over for 2hrs on my walk and just kept crying...I my buddy sits in a "Garden of Wisdom" surrounded by rivers of honey...This song does bring you to your knees and causes a grown man to cry throughout a morning walk...Thank you for this Song,
@bobbyb826 It was done on the Tapestry Revisited CD by The Blessed Union of Souls. Other than that, I don't know of any other version. And tho the song Tapestry itself if my centerpiece, I agree this is one of the best on there.
This was my mother's favorite song...she died April 20, 1999. I cry each time I hear it. And, she wanted this played at her funeral. Rest in peace, mom...no time in life will I ever again experience unconditional love.
@pagandeva2000 "...unconditional love..." Oh...what a heavenly smile she must have on her face to know that her child understands this. Her prayers were answered!
@pagandeva2000 my mom has a terminal illness and i have been playing Carole King for her because she told me she wanted to listen to her. I will always remember my mother when i listen to her songs
I love this song so much, it's my favorite Carole King song. It's almost as if she wrote the lyrics for me, because they explain how I've felt for a very long time in my life. Very deep and meaningful lyrics.
This is the last song my brother played on the record player as he walked out the door in 1977. He was murdered 2 hours later. He knew something that we didn't.
It was my intro too...in 1971....LOL I listened to it every night before I drifted off to sleep. I was 13....Oh those simpler times and lost youth I long for you!
To the land where the honey runs.....Oh, Lord! Way Over Yonder,,thats where I'm Bound!
