Actually the reason Roy Harper sang this was because Water's voice was pretty much gone during the recording and Gilmour hated the whining of the songs during this period, especially this one, so he passed. Harper was recording down the hall and they asked him to do the vocals.
You have to be a damn good band to cover a song by a legend band, e.g. Pink Floyd, and do it well, Primus nailed it! The Primus spirit contrasts excellently with the self indulgent nature of the song... not bashing Floyd, WONDERFUL band, I just always had the impression that he took himself a little too seriously.
Naturally Primus was able to extrapolate a more advanced drum and bass part to this song. What is most remarkable, however, is how well Les Claypool's vocals work in it.

@wyverngirl69 Haha, so many negatives... I know, I know Claypool, I know Primus, I know their style. I'm just saying that, IMO, it sounds horrible. I think i've never listened to another bass player that sounded that bad to me. I don't know, I love others like Pastorius, Flea, Entwistle, Waters himself or even McCartney, but I still can't handle Claypool. Go ahead, kill me with negatives again...

@Tiduses1 You probably just can't accept the shitty fact that he is making the Bass to sound like something else..in his hands a Bass guitar would never look or sound as an underrated intrument..in Primus the Bass player is NOT just a shy dude doing something important without anybody notices it ..The Bass Player,Claypool,THE Claypool is THY SOUL!!!

You don't need to turn your volume that up to be a good bass player, I don't care if he's the leader or not. Thin Lizzy's bassist was also the leader, and that didn't mean that he had to play louder than the guitar... Let's say that I just don't understand Primus XD

@Tiduses1 You really don't know bass man. Flea isn't by any means exceptional. Neither is Waters really. Love Waters but he doesn't really stand out. You're just too used to hearing bass as a submissive roll in music.

First, I said I'm not talking about skill, as you said, I give priority to CREATIVITY. In second place, you know there are different preferences in music, yours may not be the same as mines, I respect that; you, apparently, don't. So IMO, Les Claypool doesn't sound good to me. That's a preference. Third, what if Jaco is a different style? I just said I liked him, and Les, don't.

The Primus spirit contrasts excellently with the self indulgent nature of the song... not bashing Floyd, WONDERFUL band, I just always had the impression that he took himself a little too seriously.

Naturally Primus was able to extrapolate a more advanced drum and bass part to this song. What is most remarkable, however, is how well Les Claypool's vocals work in it.
