I've just discovered Ian Rankin and want to get in to the Rebus novels but live in the US and can't find the first one. Is it important to read them in order or not?
ahh i just this second finished it...i read it in a day!!
The ending for me.....i thought it was good but it made me feel disappointed, the way todd ended up bad...i wanted him to be siv's assistant :( also the fact you never know what happens to caffety :( but altogether it was AMAZING
Those teasers are almost too much too bear! I can't wait! I don't know what I'll do when Rebus retires, I really appreciated his trials and tribulations so much. My 14 year old daughter has just started "Knots and Crosses", for her it's only the beginning. Does it really have to end...?
*cries* I've only read the first six Rebus novels, starting the seventh this week. I'm dreading the final novel! :( x

@headman844 no because there is no continuing story , it's a new case every book.

I do like book series that keep a proper time line. Steve Corella's kids being teenagers after 50 years realtime is just plain stupid.

Does Ian Rankin really write the first draft of his novels on a laptop?

Met Ian Rankin today at the Football, he supports the same team as me :D
He seems just like a normal person tbh but it was cool

Too bad he has to retire.
But wait a second; writers have ways to get around little inconveniences like rules.
Long live Rebus.
