How to install NitoTV on Apple TV 2G

Hey I need help. I ssh'd in, and downloaded but I never typed the link and the dload stopped at 74% so I quit terminal. I was previously sharing connection from ethernet through macbook. Went back to ATV2 and it wasn't connecting to internet anymore. I download restore and an "error occurred"

ATV2 won't connect to internet now and I fear it's busted. Any suggestions?

Everything worked fine until the "killall Lowtide." Didn't know what to do so I exited the SSH client and rebooted the AppleTV manually. Now it won't start... Totally bricked

@emtywasn its possible that you previously jailbroke your aTV and restored it. When you rejailbroke it, you need to reset the password string. Its simple, follow the instructions on my video how to fix remote host identification error for aTV 2. That should fix it unless I am not understanding correctly. It's either that, or you are not successfully jb i believe.

i figured it out, now all i need to know is if the aptv should be plugged it as soon as i run terminal.

also it froze on me,after it asks for the root. i put in alpine, did i miss a step?

I cant get the terminal to allow me to put in my ip address, i think because its dhcp, its not the normal ip address numbers. also does the apple tv 2g have to be pulled into the computer. I am confused, been looking around all day. I need detailed instructions. I have it jailbroken, but i can't get the ip address to work in terminal. Looked all over google. Lost and frustrated. Good video though.

@MrLdotwilliams Hmm I am confused about your IP address issue, have you tried restarting everything, rebooting your aTV and computer sometimes they need to refresh for me. If you have it jailbroken you must have been able to access the IP address in one point so that makes me believe you need to reboot and refresh the communication. Let me know how it goes

@MrLdotwilliams ok I've never seen this issue first hand but from forums it looks like the authenticity of host xx...etc... it looks like it gives you an option after it to say yes or no, Type yes, it should add the fingerprint for your computer. you can also try removing the finger print here's a link for my video. It's super easy (it won't let me copy paste links in here but its a video on how to fix remote host error

then retry that. 2) you don't need the aTV plugged into the mac.

@MrLdotwilliams i got it working. thanks. quick question. how do you stream files from a mac? i can't find a tutorial for this anywhere. I can use xbmc just fine on my mac, it sees my hdd and folders, but on the apt2g it doesnt see my folders or MY hdd. Any suggestions?

this was pretty helpful, though after "ssh root@192.168.x.x" it asks me for a password for the appleTV. Yes I'm running as sudo su, and I've tried my personal password, my Ubuntu's root password, and alpine, and even frontrow ;p

I can log in as front row, but then typing the big command "echo..(insert rest of command here)" it tells me /etc/apt/sources.list.d/akward­tv.list doesn't exist! I'm stuck, any help?

I had a problem copy and pasting the link initially as well, I had to type it out manually in word, and then copy and paste it, make sure there are no extra spaces they screwed me up!

I found I had to do this..

login as frontrow, then input the following:

sudo -s

mount -uw /

touch /.readwrite

reboot

And it worked, and I continued on te rest of this excellent guide as well. Thank you sir.
