  • The power, the passion, the sacrifice, the confrontation of inner demons, the loss of innocence, the purity of heart and character showing through when tested. This movie is life.

  • I loved this movie. Yohei was the 8th samurai!

  • @OldStag72 Yohei was awesome indeed! He stood by his post.... not like that Manzo.

  • This may sound a bit lame, but I think it would have been cool if each of the Seven Samurai were named after the Seven tenants of Bushido.

  • SPOILER: Does anyone know what song the peasants were singing at the end when they were victorious?

  • I love the bounty hunter Embo, Sugi. An episode of the Clone Wars Was based of this movie Pirates vs farmers the farmers hired bounty hunter to protect thier village from hondo honaka (Pirate leader.)

  • @brehemi Please don't talk about that episode, I felt both me and this classic movie were violated by it.

  • Watching Seven Samurai is like a master class in how to make a movie. Every single scene and shot contributes something to the whole, and not one line of dialogue is wasted.

  • Hayasaka-san was one of the greatest film composers, though he died at a tragically young age. May he rest in peace.

  • Kurosawa: best director ever!!!!

  • zero people don't like this song, any the exact same number of people didn't like the movie.

  • @Curchulain everytime someone like you says something like " those 3 people must have thought it mean dis-i-like" or something it basically just gives trolls motivation to click the dislike button. Please stop with this stupid, un-neccesary comments.

  • this is like lotr in b/w

  • @fruchtzergeis

No, LOTR is like Seven Samurai in colour.

    The original classic...

  • @peanut3423

LOTR is Seven Samurai for the nerds and the weak-minded. This is, without the shadow of a doubt, the first truly flawless movie ever made. And this is one of the greatest soundtracks ever.

  • @Edhunter665 I resent that remark. XD Of course, it depends if you're talking just about the LOTR movies... then yes. They could never be as amazing as the Seven Samurai.

  • @Tsukuyomi83 You know what's ironic about this discussion, BOTH The Fellowship of The Ring (The First book) and Seven Samurai came out in the same year, 1954.

  • 人を守ってこそ己も守れる

  • @CannabisDelux I saw the anime. It was alright, but the entire time I felt like I should just watch the movie instead

  • @SuperBluepurple I watched it right after watching the movie, so it was a sweat exra.

  • awesome movie!

  • Kikuchiyo Kikuchiyo !!!

  • @blackwyrm hated the scene when he... well, no spoilers :)

  • @blackwyrm I prefer Kyûzô a lot more

  • Kikuchiyo Kikuchiyo !!!

  • PUMP'd!!!!!!

  • caught this on late night TV one time, didnt know what it was but it dragged me in and i ended up watching the whole thing.

  • @Banminator It's a great film, some would argue the best, but I will say it's the tie that binds allot of great filmmakers (Kubrick, Stone, Lucas, Tarantino etc..).

  • @caitshiznit TARANTINO LUCAS???? please... capra, hawks, chaplin, hitchcock, wilder, fellini, truffaut, becker, scorsese, clouzot, fuller, scorsese, dassin... don t talk about tarantino or lucas : mediocre!!!

  • @fghrere Stop being a pretentious moviesnob, the fact that you mentioned scorsese twice just goes to show that You already have Your panties in a bunsh over how many great directors You know.

Also, for anyone who knows anything about movies, Tarantino is NOT mediocre

  • @caitshiznit stone, lucas, tarantino. i don t even know why i bother arguing... kubrick is a genius... but tarantino, stone, lucas. cmon man, no need of being a movie snob to face the truth. may i recomend you HARA KIRI from Kobayashi or is it too snob doing so ?? watch movies and then you ll understand why tarantino and co are mediocre. not terrible, just mediocre.

  • @fghrere

I shouldn't compare Kurosawa, Tarantino and Lucas...

  • @Banminator

Man that is great to hear.

  • @Banminator It was about 7-8 years ago when that same thing happened to me. IFC was showing it at 2AM. I was playing some computer game and was just simply like "Oh I've heard that name before, I'll throw it on as I play XYZ game." 2 hours later at the intermission I notice my game has been on the menuscreen and I've just been sitting there motionless watching the TV. I climbed into bed, finished it out, then the next morning bought every Kurosawa DVD I could find on amazon that was on sale.

  • always loved this music and the movie ofcourse Kurosawa is the greatest

  • always loved this music and the movie ofcourse

  • This movie is a BOSS.

  • Is it tacky to listen to this making Sushi .

  • Toshihiro Mifune steals the scenes in almost everything he is....even a movie as incredibly cast as this one. It may have had one of the most bittersweet endings of any film I ever saw.

  • if any of you guys loved the seven samurai you should check out yojimbo

  • kode 9 - 9 samurai :)

  • great film.

  • Kyuzo was my favorite of the Samurai.... calm, steady, and composed even in the worst of situations, as lethal as the dreaded black mamba in every confrontation, modest even when he had every reason to brag... that's someone you want by your side when lives are at stake.

  • @rnv322

I really liked Kikuchiyo. Full of rage, emotion and heroism. He knew he had to overcome the social chains he was born in, and did so, acting and dying like a samurai. Also Gorobei was cool, jovial and yet intelligent.

  • @rnv322 And i also like the calm attitude of the leader. He was AMAZING in Akira korusawa's Ikiru.

  • @Zlagie ...Ah! ..coincidence you should mention Ikiru...I am a huge fan of that movie, and I have it in my collection...a very moving, well-directed, and compelling work!

  • @rnv322 Oh yeah *Ahem* it's kurosawa. I spelled wrong.

  • Kikuchiyo is amazing.

  • Kikuchiyo is his name...

  • This is my favorite film of all time, its decided

  • @AzunaiSmyth same!

  • "This is the nature of war: by protecting others, you protect yourself."

"In life, one finds friends in the strangest places."

  • man..what a movie...made in 54' and better than all hollywood movies :|...amazing..thx japan for this movie...and for samurais of course:)

  • love this movie

  • guys im so happy to be japanese know i just been deliverd 2 origanal samurai swords my great grandad passed away and he has had them from his great grandad they lookm so mint srry for bad english if der it any

  • @MrSunnyp45 Wich family do you represent?

  • @MrSunnyp45 I want those swords! I want to make a movie like this! Don't you ever wish just to go in the desert and start making a samurai movie or a western movie?

  • Impeccable composition, great music, simple plot, complex characters, awesome symbolism and superb performances.

I specially like the use of wide angle lenses and how the personalities of each samurai help to tell the story.

This kind of cinema is new for me, yet it feels familiar.

  • well, music was very very good, dramatic just like it should be and full of emotional feelings. Haven't seen the film yet, not really a Jap fan, but I'm sure the old saying goes........it's the bad ones that get the country noticed. lol

  • @cuddles2001 Try this movie and then look for Akira Kurosawa's other work

  • @manhusolddwrld How do I get to watch the full version? Is there a site I need to go to?

  • @cuddles2001 How do I get to watch the full version? Is there a site I need to go to?

  • I loved this film, when I first saw it. It's a pity it's so slow, however. Although that's more of a feature of films of the time. Just more time spent on each section than is strictly necessary. I wonder if this is in fact a strength.

  • @harlequin2262 id say it is :) the guy who has the big sword thats kinda crazy, i didnt like him at first but by the end he had grown on me and became my favorite :D

  • @joker9494949494

Kakuchiko. Yeah, I think that was intentional. He's got a lot of really good lines. Bit of introspection there, which was pretty rare at the time, in filmmaking.

  • I love this song. The movie as well.

  • this songs so good im now bleeding rectally

  • Greatest of all time, this film inspired the western "The Magnificent Seven", several of the greatest westerns were in fact based off of Japanese Samurai movies, example: Fist full of Dollars= Yojimbo

  • 9 Samurai by Kode9 and the spaceape is an epic spin on this

  • @SetiRabbit Kode9 did justice to this.

  • @Masterpeewee oh for sure its masterful

  • @Masterpeewee Why do we keep looking at the same videos lol.

  • hmm..I just realized that this soundtrack sounds a little like the star wars theme...

Anyway, I have been dying to see this film. Yojimbo and Sanjuro just came out for Blu-ray. Should I wait to see this first or should I just go ahead and see those two first ?

  • Don't think it matters as long as you watch Yojimbo before Sanjuro. Yojimbo is fantastic, buy Seven Samurai is the best movie I have ever seen.

  • Great music. Tells half the story

  • Yarg! I can't find where to buy/download these songs, anyone know where to get the seven samurai OST?

  • @TombKV7 Mmm me too, I can't seem to find it either :(. Not on itunes, but on Amazon for $55.99 rofl. Must be a rare CD :(

  • If you want, you should just torrent it

  • Best movie ever made!

Hollywood has a long way to go.

  • I whole-heartedly agree. My all time favorite movie, with one of the greatest actor/director collaborations ever known. :)

  • kode9. :D

  • Just finished watching the movie, I loved it.

  • This is more than a must see movie, this is one of the best ever if not the best ever.

  • Great soundtrack Great movie. One of my favorites of all time

  • One of the best movies ever made from any country.

  • It's to bad that the coolest guy had to die.

  • *too

  • thats the beauty of it.

  • "Jokers" "I killed two"

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen which one are you talking about?

I thought they were all cool, including Toshiro Mifune's character.

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen he wasn't the coolest, he was the absolute best

  • @schnisha95 Agree - Best samurai movie- Akiro Best director

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen The assassin or Mifune?

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen Do you mean Toshiro Mifunes character?! (the guy with the 2h field katana?)

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen you guys know who I'm talking about.

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen Yeah but it tells the story proper like. This ain't Hollywood.

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen Gee thanks for the spoiler

  • Comment removed

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen all of them were cool

  • @StatuesBleedingGreen all of them were pretty cool...well except shichiroji b/c we didn't learn a damn thing about him lol

  • R.I.P Toshiro Mifune one of my all time favorite actors I love him in this and in Shogun Great movies both thanks for putting this up....This movie inspired the western the Magnificent seven with Yul Brener another great actor....

  • 7 has always been a symble of power..

  • I did a yojimbo remix

  • Absolutly a wonderful song ! Korosawa R.I.P for this amazing movie .

  • Where can I get this Wallpaer Pic

    searched Google, but no luck

    want one in high resolution

    Please

  • One of the most wonderful films I've ever seen. :) Kudos to Akira Kurosawa for delivering such an epic tale. And yeah, gotta love the music. For some reasons, the music does remind me of Star Wars. :)

  • Funny, that you think of Star Wars...

Take a look at Kurosawa's movie The Hidden Fortress, Lucas took a lot of plot elements from this one for the original Star Wars movie. He also was inspired by the samurai code (for the Jedi) and samurai armour (Vader's costume)

Kurosawa is maybe the most influential modern director and writer of our time, his works have inspired so many people in cinema, literature, comic books etc.

  • Kikuchiyo is my hero :D Defeneatly the most complicated of all the 7.

  • Spinechillingly beautiful this is, dark and sad yet entertaining, jazzy and nicely moving along. A perfect soundtrack, i must see this movie as that is supposedly even better.

Dubstep artist Kode 9 sampled this one for his track " 9 samurai " (adding 2 samurai in the process) by the way.

  • EPIC
