@Freewayjim Some people that I-10 is boring, but I found that stretch of highway interesting like the ghost towns that say general store on it when driving to Victoria from Houston. Besides when if ever I-69 is completed that stretch will no longer exist as it is now. I wish there was late 80s footage of the 610 loop with these weird looking streetlights but no one has posted it on you tube.
@cubsrule2040 I'm not from the area but I noticed that most urban freeways have a 60 MPH Speed Limit in Texas and this is definitely an urban freeway. In Atlanta and most eastern cities the speed limit would be 55 for this type of road. The speed limit jumps to 65-70 once you get out of the city area.
@Freewayjim In New Mexico, the speed limit on the freeways in Albuquerque is 65 mph except for a stretch of I-25 between downtown Albuquerque and Gibson Blvd. where it's 55.
California's urban freeway speed limits is usually 65.
The interchange at US59/SH288/I-45 was opened in the mid 70s, not 1967 (hence the more advanced appearance than what would normally be found in the 60s). The Pierce Elevated (I-45) opened in 1967; The interchange was opened along with the completion of US59 through downtown.
@Freewayjim On that video near I-610, it looked like a traffic jam waiting to happen, it's about 2-3 times the amount of traffic as I-75 in Cincy, that's the power of Texas freeways. :) Also, Cincy's freeways need more lanes added, 3-4 lanes each is not enough!
The only real thing I like about Houston is its infrastructure. It really can't be beat anywhere else and was featured very well in this great video. That's some pretty amazing engineering for the '60s at 4:10. If the concrete was newer and the rust wasn't present, I would swear it was recently built.
@CosmoPhotography -That 1960's interchange has some tricky ramps as you'll see in future videos, I hate driving through it anywhere other than on US-59.
2:15 wats up uptown tex ... pause at 2:39 .. thats the definition of a stack interchange . btw exceptiopnal video of one of the greatest freeways in america , us-59 shows all aspects of design and engineering to the highest and fullest level . houston is the city that set trends for no other to compete with in highway construction , once again video is perfect , great job

5:12~5:25 -> The truck went against the traffic regulation called "No trucks left lane."
Kyukanbun 1 year ago
@Kyukanbun US-59 has no regulations or limitations in which lane a 18 wheeler or Truck can drive.
