Sure you can. It's going to be a ton of work though. Like, years of work and I think to reach this level quite a bit of natural talent is involved.

But there are easier songs that also sound great and you will be able to play those in a few month if you are disciplined. It's worth the effort.

John, a couple of years ago I saw you for the first time here on utube. You inspired me so much that I bought one of your CD's and my first classical guitar at the age of 66. I still don't play as well as you and never will but I'm loving it. The beauty of your playing has brought me to tears a few times too i don't mind admitting. If you can sight read as a guitarist you are definately in a minority I'd say. That is a very amazing talent to have, yet not a requirement to write good music. Many great guitar players simply play by "tone" which is music theory without "knowing" theory.

I hate it when people look for tabs. John I insist you stop selling any tab versions and force people to learn to READ MUSIC !!! OK we all know they will just have someone tab it for them but seriously. I block out (place tape over) the tab portions of the sheet music I bought from you. Tabs are a hinderance.. grow up people. you wana play great music but wont learn to read ??? WTF !!

lol, I do the same thing sometimes...put tape over the tab to cover it up. But tabs aren't inherently evil...actually tablature (using numbers and lines to write music) was around long before before modern staff music notation. It all depends on what the ones goals are. If one wants to be professional, or play in an ensemble, then learning music is essential....For those of us wanting to learn to read music, tabs are a serious crutch. for those that just want to play guitar it is a boon.

I agree that with staff notation, it is easier to convey how the song is supposed to feel, i.e., the dynamics, key changes, tempo changes, etc., while with tabs its only a set of numbers that need written notes like "play fast here" or "play softer here until here" to get the same effect.

But it also leaves tabs open to interpretation... ;) Variations, anyone?
