@HLeonick , this is the voice of Stevie's 1st wife, Syreeta Wright. She wrote a lot of songs for and with Stevie. He adored her, her voice and her talent.
Iremembered this song from child hood but didnt remember it so pretty i always loved it now my daughter loves it too and she plays it back to back is if it was Jasmine sullivan.I love you tube cause it's like seeing and old friend again after 30 yrs.
Syreeta does not look like Whitney Houston. (my opinion, of course.) Both women have their own look..both are beautiful. Whitney's voice is (was) stronger. I do believe that Syreeta would have been 63 yrs old now. (if she had not passed away in 2004.) This would make her almost in a different generation from Whitney..who is 46. Minnie Riperton would have been 62 yrs old had she not passed away in 1976, at the age of 31. These women did not strive for "diva" status...they just made love songs!
I love Mary, but in this case I think Gordy was right. His timing was super screwed up though. You don't wait until the new lead is announced to decide on a stiill newer replacement. . Jean worked out. I love thie whole LP this song is from.. To bad Syretta is gone.
This is really beautiful. I remember Annie Lennox singing this song, very beautiful version as well, but I can't find it on here. Does any one know anything about it?
Syreeta's treatment of this song has a more personally passionate edge... most probably because she LIVED it with Stevie. This is mad poignant song, and her rendering is giving me goosebumps even as I listen and type. Would have loved to have seen her do this live. Simply beautiful.
My God! It has been 25 years since I heard this song. Syreeta was an angel. And this song is very special to me. I searched and searched but couldn't find it anywhere on the net. Thank you for uploading this.
Wow..I searched to hear this song again for years. My mom played it when I was a baby but I remember the way she sung this song and it stayed with me. No one in this universe in my opinion past or present can rip this song like she did. Too bad artist and singers today don't have souls anymore..WOW! Thankyou for posting this song and making me smile and cry at the same time..peace

Syreeta was born to perform song named 'Come back as a flower' : )
She did it, and went peaceful. I wish all of you to come to your part of conclusion and do something.
