People are actually debating about hairstyles on this video's comments? Hairstyles? With all the great opportunities to discuss actual relevant issues in the hardcore scene? Shave your head if you want. Grow an emo flop or a mohawk or however else you want. But above all, be yourself and listen to the actual MESSAGE of the music, and then choose to accept it or reject it as you see fit. Hardcore is a free market of ideas and sounds.
fuck yea bro. Doesn't mean shit if you wear gym shorts and hoodies or girl pants and have emo hair. Its all about hardcore for what it means, not what you look like
because we do. youre also asking this in a video to a song that came out at least 13 years ago. are you suggesting all us male hardcore fans look like stick figures, wear tight ass pants that suffocate our package and grow our hair so we cant see shit because our bangs are so long? ill take the scene before vermin like you shitty scene kids came along. fuck scene points, practicing dance moves in a mirror before a show and fuck the girl pants especially. go cut yourself and cry emo pussy
Your comment makes no sense. You're basically just defending a military approach to being 'scene'. Hey, you do know you don't have to shave your head unless you join the military right?
my comment makes no sense? lets break it down here so your tiny mind can understand it: this song is about 13 years old; things in the scene have changed since then. I shave my head because its low maintenace and i like to see when i walk instead of having a ton of fucking hair in front of my eyes. hardcore was better before scene kids came along. and maybe i was in the military...so what? stick to MCR and Dashboard Confessional.
lol how is making an effort to shave your head every couple weeks 'low maintenance'? Isn't it more low maintenance to just let it grow without cutting it?
at least back then hardcore was hardcore. everyone in your local scene was family. it didnt matter about the clothes you wore or your haircut. thanx to all these emo dicks that invaded our scene in the late 90s and totally fucked it. they dont know what hardcore is about!!!!!!!
That's another thing I hate about this kind of hardcore, people in it think too locally. I like to think outside the local box and reach more people around the world. And no I don't agree, I think in order to be accepted by this 'scene' you had to have the shaved head too.
dude what do you mean this kind of hardcore? there is only one kind. hardcore is a local thing. everyone playing in bands with each other etc. we have been very luck to have some amazing internationally succesful hardcore bands. but where did they come from? a local scene.. and mate you wouldnt now shit as your prob a 16 year old who never wittnessed hardcore in its prime. so how do you know you had to have a shaved head. earthcrisis forever
i hate people talking about the things they don´t understand. play in your succesfully and profitable mainstream band with your howls, your fashion and all the teen pussies crying... oh wait, it´s that over yet? i guess so, emo is fuckin dead once again
Everyone should stop crying over what bands are straight edge and that they aren't the most technical band in the world, i dont listen to hardcore to hear the most crisp clean guitar solo, i wanna hear something that is raw, dirty and makes me realise there's someone out there angry as i am.
it's about going out to war against those who are trying to influence with poison. if we're constantly surrounded by those throwing drinks on us, accusing us of being faggots...its time to fight back.
there's actually people out there who still think that way? if YOU don't like alcohol, then YOU shouldn't drink it. mind your own business. i'm gonna take a big swig of rum right now and i dedicate it to you, faggot
Its funny how you had no idea what you were in when you were in the NYHC scene. I knew. I am a Senior VP of a hedge fund and although I don't listen to it anymore I still love the raw and realism of NHYC, it is one of the true real things in life that is not waxed by perception. Sorry you got an accidental bow in the pit of a show. I can tell you were a sideliner in the scene.....I feel bad for you, I really do.
these type of songs always sound weak recorded, they don't stand the test of time, for me, but having survived many Syracuse shows, that's memories 4ev right there...
I really like Earth Crisis.I used to love eating a steak, pounding a 40oz.,smoking a blunt,THEN goin in the club to see 'em. Fuck being straight edge...people who dont eat meat or do ANY drugs whatsover creep me out.But some of my favorite bands are straight edge bands lol go figure!
EC is good but...greatest HC band ever?? You must not get out much bro. These muthafuckas werent even really hardcore. They were WAY more metal. Now NEGATIVE APPROACH? I was at that 94 show in Chicago! Fucking flips off the stacks.. Shit was nuts.. Still one of the hardest tunes ever made.. seriously spawned an entirely new genre.. no matter what your politics are.. Earth Crisis was seriously good.
Yeah, I know. Best band ever. I am Vegan Straight Edge, but that doesn't mean I'm irrational. The war on drugs is a complete failure. You can only truly liberate yourself from the intoxication of substances (or even responsible usage, it exists believe it or not) by education, not dumping massive amounts of resources into the prison, military, and police industrial complex, things which I'm sure eXc are also against.
Well you say legalize all drugs... Alright... put a tax on the now legal drugs, I fucking bet you more people will get busted. Put on a tax, an age limit, and a consumption amount, more people will get busted, I fucking bet you.
Hearing this takes me back all the way back to 1994 at Fireside in Chicago. Those invloved in the SXE Chicago scene back in the day can truly enjoy this video. Thanxxx for all the good times!!! SXE for life!!!!!
not really. they pretty much ruined hardcore (as did much of the northeast) by infusing violence into the scene and making it fucking trendy to be a sxe kid. vEgAn sXe omgggsceneiez exist today in large part because of the example of earth crisis. give me gorilla biscuits and ssd and leave everything else out.
and DYS haha yeah - I disagree with you.. I was transalating an Ian Mackaye interwiev which my friend did for his book.. and he said those are some violent people.. and they exist everywhere.. he refuses to believe the worldwide the message hes been misunderstood soo much
i used to be edge, so i know that it's not always the case that people were violent. but i think that looking back at the history there's not much doubt that the north was much more militant and violent than other areas where sxe was prominent, and that they made a conscious effort to propagate that. the whole glorification of youth crews was nothing more than a misunderstanding of scene unity and was absolutely sure to breed hatred and violence.
Yes, but also some of the best hardcore music ever! It took the first wave and added a more refined musical/ideological way of doing the whole thing. A bit less naive and a bit more set, but not diluted yet. I still have faith in Tim McMahon.
in your opinion, some of the best hardcore. it also paved the way for modern metalcore and a good deal of the shitty scene crossover that's so popular. and simplifying belief structures for the sake of having something to chant behind has always been dangerous and foolish.
ah come on dude..it is about fun and a lot of the times raising awareness... itz just like shouting along to the ramones.. kids will always like being a part of something fun it dosent have to be the most unique shit ever
anyhow I get you about the chanting being dangerous but sometimes its really fun too
i can understand if you're from hungary that things would be different. but in the u.s., things really got out of hand because of sxe, to the point where many crews were labeled as violent gangs by police officers and groups like fsu were involved with murders. today the radical sxe scene has diminished considerably, but it's still very elitist and violent, and has most recently fused with the anarchist movement.
yeah some punk friends of mine (from the usa) really hated sXe kids..itz propably a big problem, and there is a lot of pointless stupid violence.. but hey you know I lived in NY for a while and america is just fucked up that way
yeah, america has plent of problems, even within supposedly "positive" punk communities. all of the north is rough, and so is the midwest, surprisingly. places where kids have a lot of threat or none at all seem vulnerable. i live in north carolina, and though sxe is still big among the anarchist community, they're all anti-violence and very positive, which makes them a bit easier to take.
funny u talk about fsu shattered realm played a free show here like two weeks ago.. a fight broke out in the pit and the band was like hey were not gonna stop even if you fight.. I hate that kind of mentality! I like my rockandroll for the fun and the message the stupid shit suxs balls
anyhow there are very few people here that come to shows or know anything about this here in Hungary - I understand that it is different in big hc places.. ie in London there vere a lot of militant idiots.. anyhow guys like greg bennick are the example setters JUST LIKE Ian or AL
You will do more good by going vegan then by burning down a Taco hell. Their insurance will just build them a new building. Stop putting animal products into your mouth - that's the only way they will not be killed!!!
That's bullshit. One person going vegan will cost Taco Bell absolutely nothing. Burning down a restaurant will, even in the case that insurance covers it, drive up insurance dramatically. Brown Pride, go for it!

Yes, but also some of the best hardcore music ever! It took the first wave and added a more refined musical/ideological way of doing the whole thing. A bit less naive and a bit more set, but not diluted yet. I still have faith in Tim McMahon.

in your opinion, some of the best hardcore. it also paved the way for modern metalcore and a good deal of the shitty scene crossover that's so popular. and simplifying belief structures for the sake of having something to chant behind has always been dangerous and foolish.

ah come on dude..it is about fun and a lot of the times raising awareness... itz just like shouting along to the ramones.. kids will always like being a part of something fun it dosent have to be the most unique shit ever
anyhow I get you about the chanting being dangerous but sometimes its really fun too

i can understand if you're from hungary that things would be different. but in the u.s., things really got out of hand because of sxe, to the point where many crews were labeled as violent gangs by police officers and groups like fsu were involved with murders. today the radical sxe scene has diminished considerably, but it's still very elitist and violent, and has most recently fused with the anarchist movement.

yeah some punk friends of mine (from the usa) really hated sXe kids..itz propably a big problem, and there is a lot of pointless stupid violence.. but hey you know I lived in NY for a while and america is just fucked up that way
sexnviolence666 4 years ago
yeah, america has plent of problems, even within supposedly "positive" punk communities. all of the north is rough, and so is the midwest, surprisingly. places where kids have a lot of threat or none at all seem vulnerable. i live in north carolina, and though sxe is still big among the anarchist community, they're all anti-violence and very positive, which makes them a bit easier to take.

This clips makes me want to burn down a Taco Bell. And I'm not vegan.
BrownPrideSHARP 4 years ago
You will do more good by going vegan then by burning down a Taco hell. Their insurance will just build them a new building. Stop putting animal products into your mouth - that's the only way they will not be killed!!!
actionforanimals 4 years ago 2
That's bullshit. One person going vegan will cost Taco Bell absolutely nothing. Burning down a restaurant will, even in the case that insurance covers it, drive up insurance dramatically. Brown Pride, go for it!
