No one would have voted for Mary anyways. She has a shady past. 1st. She set her barn on fire burning Mrs.Beadle's book, and she also embezzled money during her reign as the class treasurer where she used class money to bought into a ponzi scheme when she was supposed to buy a bible for the Reverend.
THis episode was touching, unusual.Boys and girls can be so cruel to different children.Elmer is sweet, simpler but sweet. He just is slower and so illtreated.
@fisteberg Yup, God uses the weak things/people of this world to manifest His strength - thankfully showing that no one is un- important, and that many of the so - called intellects of this world are fools.
Love this episode, Elmer was so sweet. Made me cry when he gave his speech, then when his pa hugged him. Thanks so much for posting it. I really appreciate it as I am in another country where they don't air Little House like they do back home in the US.
I just thought as young girls Melissa Sue was a much more natural, intense actress. Her emotions came so naturally; she had an ability to bring a viewer to tears alot of times,
Melissa Gilbert's reactions always seemed so forced to me.
Saying that, having continued acting more steadily in the series than Melissa Sue, Melissa Gilbert turned into an excellent actress later on as an adult. .
kids can be so darn cruel if i were those parents they would never hear the end of it of how disappointed and horrified i am that they treated someone that way
Fantastic ending! Mary was so pretty in this episode.
Thanks for uploading :)

It's a shame that kindness is so often perceived as slow-wittedness.

Landon's real life children are in this episode. At 7.49 the blond boy & 8.44 the girl who seconds the nomination for Nelly.

I've never seen eyes as blue as Mary's. Very pretty.

@lolasurf47 This may have been recolored digitally, in that case, they may have exaggerated the blue-ness of her eyes :S
They're still very pretty though
