Hi Squirt and owner! I have a question! Do you have to have a basking light? I have a magnetic basking dock but no light! Can i use natural sunlight?! Please reply! I love Squirt!

Few things here my turtle didnt eat for the longest time with the pellets. Gave him a piece or 2 of chopmeat and he just pretty much lives off of it. he wont eat anything else until i try some feeder fish. Also that heater isnt needed anymore. MAYBE when they little babies but dont waste your money...room temp is more than sufficient. in the wild they dont hang out in 80 degree water :P Uncles going on 9 years with his turtle from a baby...never once had a heater lol

hello! what kind of does squirts filter get clogged with the sand. do you think a fluval 105 in a 20 gallon tank would get clogged with sand? thank you :)

get some fish! I recommend convict cichlids, i started with 3 and now have a bunch of them, the turtle is never able to catch mine so they reproduce. My turtle does eat one every 2 weeks or so (i catch and feed her), but thats not enough to seriously decline the population, so its pretty balance and the tank is full of life!

you don't need that oxygen pump, he's a turtle not a fish.

since you havethe room,you should thinking about rescuing another RES there is so many out there that people don't want anymore because they got too big, so they try and leave them in a lake. Also theose stupid vendors who put a RES in a critter keeper, sells it to a little girl who doesnt know its going to get much bigger, and when it does, she doesn't want it anymore:(

what's your basking dock made of? I am currently making my own 55 gallon turtle tank for 2 RES, 2 Plecos and a bunch of minnows, and absolutely love your setup (except the substrate, sand must be a pain to clean).

PS: could you upload a video of you cleaning the tank?
