After 16 consecutive number one singles, "You Must Not Be Drinking Enough" stopped at number 26 in late 1989. He literally disappeared from the chart thereafter. A real travesty for country music!
I have been a fan of Earl Thomas Conley since I first heard his Silent Treatment on the Bluebird label. I knew then he would be a great influence on country music for many years. My band covered Silent Treatment but I'm sure we didn't do it justice. I can't think of another voice like his.
@wilburscott Yeah, Wilbur, I've got the only published version of the 'country annual.' He hasn't put out any updates since '97, due to it not bein' a big seller. God bless!
Don Henley's version from his own album "Building the Perfect Beast" is so much better that it's not even funny. Nothing against this guy...he's great...but the original is the way to go in this case.
Me too Mark,He has a one of a kind of voice. On replay so many times now.
Heart breaking,But he sure knows how to sing them....I too love his style..I thank you as well Wilbur..I do hope more of his songs are around. Thanks for passing it on to me Mark...
God,I cry everytime I hear this song. And that was a divorce from 20 yrs ago. Weird
