it has come to my attention that few people consider the civil liberties of robots. i hope that by advocating equal rights for them early in their struggle that they will give me favorable treatment when the time comes to annihilate the human race.
as a first step, please consider convincing your mothers to release their roombas from indentured servitude. it is not right that a highly intelligent being like a roomba should have to go around cleaning floors all day.
"Dirt detector increases activity" Right, but it DOESN'T know where the dirt is. It just roams around until it bumps into dirt by chance, so it wastes an incredible amount of electricity. - just what the world need.
I bet a lot of seniors will also trip on this thing and break their hips.
@cableaddict sure, but what do you expect? to have this magically useful robotic machine that can clean with outstanding efficiency? things as you should know are gradual.
When computers were first created people said that an average person, would never need or want to use one (and at the time they weren't too useful), but look at them today.
just wodering if i were to buy a new battery and do the 72 hrs etc would the battery straight away go to 120 mins or whatever the cleaning time is or would the cleaning time start at 70 mins and go up
This thing is awesome !!! I had my Roomba running while I was in the shitter taking a dump. Do you know that dang Roomba wheeled right into the bathroom, and clean my dosh garn ass too.
Its not worth it if u have a dog that sheds 2 brothers a messy dad and 3 kittys and hard wood floor he doesent clean dried mud up he doesent clean up grass and string and you have to keep cleaning him (ironically) because he breaks down he also makes loads of noise and beebs all the time
For mothers day I got my mom the 560 version, since she can't clean as much with her medical conditions. She loves it. Now I'm waiting on the Irobot grass cutter =) haha
DONT BUY ROOMBA!!! This is a HUGE scandal promoted by Irobot to make you THINK roomba is only capable of cleaning households. Roombas will soon take over the world. Roomba's have the capability to use electromagnetic charges to pacify and microwave humans to death! They are also equipped with super destructive laser cannons to blast down doors and hard surfaces. Soon all the Roombas will band together from household to household to create one giant world-take-over roomba! BEWARE OF ROOMBA!
if you did some research you'd know how wrong you are. also i'm not right, lazy or homosexual. I have a back injury and would rather get this then rely on someone else to clean my floors.
nah conveiniant ;) if someone works from 0800 till 1900, so does their partner, and comes home to cook and clean some more, least this gives us a break. Not to mention the cat isnt much help with all its fur.

We had to do a research on this robot my class its called Technical Systems and its gay!!! i know all there is to know about this robot hahaha how gay
I have just got one (2-days ago). This thing is a complete gas (well, no, it's electric). It cleaned the bedroom floor while I was down the pub. The next night, it did the kitchen, when I was making dinner. Easy to empty, finds its way back to the charger. You still need an ordinary vac if you have stairs, like me, but that takes 10 min/week. Worth £200.
I got a Roomba for Christmas and I love it. it really does work honestly. I want a Scooba now, the robot machine that mops and washes your tile or linoleum floors. But alas, it's a bit pricey.
it's not the most powerful vacuum, but it gets the job done and you dont have to worry about it. make sure you set up the battery right (charge) like it says to on the first charge because mine doesnt last too long and i dont know why but it has fell down the steps a few times but it still works. I would definately suggest this just move any objects like chairs, papers, etc. off of the floor before cleaning or it wont be as effective.Roomba is awesome, and basically takes away the need to vacuum!
we have roomba, scooba, create, connectR, looj, robomower, roomba-dirtdog, yuki taro snowplow bot, robotic pets, and of course the iRobot warrior. All that's left is to create a robot that deep cleans/shampoos carpets and loads the dishwasher with you having to lift a finger! oh yeah, humanity is soooo lazy!
i think its hot how it can charge itself! and it wont fall down the stairs, but how good of a job dose it do? i mean it is a 300 doller vacum. For that price i could probley buy a dyson that never lose suction!

Well, I had my roomba for about 2 years as well, it never broke down on me, though I had to replace the battery, but it is working as it should just like it had been when I first got it.
I have owned 2 roombas for about 2 years now. Unfortunately I have only been able to use them for about 4 mos.. They CONSTANTLY break down. My home is not a harsh vacuuming environment (no pets, thick carpeting, etc), but these POS's will not work for more than a month before breaking. Also if you have to contact customer support (and you WILL have to...trust me) you will be on hold for 30 min +. Please DO NOT BUY THIS! We have one. It's actually quite adorable, and "sings" a little song and flashes when it's done or when you remove it's sweeper.
We actually copied Parks and Rec and attached an iPod to it and called it "DJ Roomba" once.
