G'day I'm Australian and SAA is like Qantas (just not as famous and loved). The airlines bring pride to their country of origin. I flew SAA from Perth to Johannesburg and I loved it, I hope that SAA stays the way it is a national icon.

Why? Because BA is giving the seats away for free! LOL, SAA is double the price! Friends of mine had to fly BA from London to Bangkok, and were told sorry we are overbooked, we offer you a hotel with breakfast, lunch and dinner and £540 compensation........ so they decided to stay over in a hotel at heathrow airport.  BA is in serious financial trouble and the airline with the most lost bagage as well.

I love SAA no doubt but it's a shame the don't use the 747's any more. But their A340-600 are really comfortable, But the A340-200 don't have personal screens in economy.

Yeah Its lovely seeing the B747's. I was born in SA and I usually always passed the airport to see the lovely planes. I grew up loving airplanes but now it slowly faded since I've moved to the US.
