Sorry, i know what you're going for (maybe) but there was nothing wrong with the original. Not everything needs "updating"...do you really discount the intelligence of your audience to that degree ? The soliloquy looked good...but everything else was disjointed and random...and i must insist, Hamlet need not be brought into the 21st century. It's perfect as is. I know you mean no disrespect, though, and I don't either.
It's quite interesting at the moment as we have had several offers from distributors to release Hamlet internationaly in theatres and we are currently negotiating the best option. As for Hamlet and Horatio kissing at the end it is true however in our version Horatio is female. Lots of the characters have been changed but the original text remains.
Thanks for your comment. Obviously it wont appeal to everyone but nevertheless it is an interesting concept and the completed piece is designed to bring Hamlet to the masses which can only be a good thing. Let me know when you have a film out and I'll return the favour, always happy to leave comments.
when ever I read hamlet I have a modern version of the book running in my head, but its nothing like this. I might consider watching this tho
