  • @MrAnthonyRizzo i think squirrell taste like a mix between fried pork and fried chicken when done proplerly ,, like if you took a little piece of both and ate them at the same time

  • @jjrrhh11 Hmmm? That is real good information because I can try what you just said and if I like it then I know I would also lioke squirrels. Thanks for letting me know.

  • @MrAnthonyRizzo no problem ,, also if u boil ur squirrel in water on a low heat for a hour or two ,, then dip it in egg and i like to use andys catfish batter ,, weird i know ,,,, but delicous !!!!!!!!! i use the cajan catfish batter it seems to match the flavor best !!!! gonna do this myself tomorrow !!!!!

  • put an onion in the water have you ever grilled them?

  • i find that the young ones are indeed tender not tough at all thumbs up

  • @leslyclaypoolio That's right "pretty much" because rabbits are actualy lagomorphs while squirrels are rodents. The difference rests in the number of upper incisors and their diets. Lagomorphs are herbivores while rodents are omnivores. Squirrels however do have an herbivorous diet and are active little creatures much like rabbits which leads me to conclude that their meats must both be low fat and very tough. I imagine they would taste best in stews or chilies.

  • what kind of a choke did tony use in his shotgun?

  • 5:53 do i spy a snake cage? seems like an awesome why to fry a squrreil though! It was my first day activly looking for squrreils and i found 2 blacks and 1 grey. the 2 took off before I could get a decent veiw / find them when they went up a tree and the grey was only across the street from a house i couldnt with that one :c thanks for your guides! (maybe post a vid for squrreil stew?)

  • could u send me the complete recipe in a message???? thanks!!!

  • @austinmassey21

Usually just by rinsing under cold water.

  • I've got urban squirrels that live in my attic and I want to get rid of them. I'm going to shoot them, but I didnt want to just dump them in the trash. Saw a couple videos on skinning and stuff, and your video just made me hungry. Would eating these squirrels be a bad idea since they've lived in my attic (only to sleep from what the pest control guy tells me, they leave to 'forage' during the day)

  • @locojacket

They would be fine to eat. City squirrel or country squirrel, makes no difference!!

  • @wyttale Sounds like a plan to me! Now all I have to do is shoot them. They're very elusive.. :)

  • @wyttale how do you get rid of extra loose pieces of fur on the meat when your finish skinning the squrriels?

  • @wyttale I thought that squirrels that lived in the city would eat trash and therfore be bad to eat? Am I wrong because we have alot of black squirrels in our town

  • @die4alife eat some and find out!

  • @die4alife ur not wrong at all the city squirrells where i live you can not eat because of that ,,

  • great video! cheers from canada

  • nice bearded dragon

  • ..shake like that. ooops xD LOL

  • Disgusting!

  • @StaringGinaAsHerself What's the difference in hunting for your meat & paying someone to kill the animal for you to cook at a later date?Either way,you are giving approval for the killing of said animal.

  • @StaringGinaAsHerself lol how so? what do u think every kind of meat comes from? gee idk. animals.

  • @NickSparkss squirrels taste great and they are fun to hunt

  • would grey squirrels be good to eat? i have a bunch in my backyard eating some plants and have been wanting to get rid of some but i dont want to throw away the meat so i want to know if they are good to eat

  • @GetThatMexican123

Squirrels are squirrels, some bigger than others but they are all edible and taste great. Grey squirrels are a medium sized squirrel and taste fine.

  • Damn that looks tasty.

I wouldn't think that squirrel would be that good, but I'll have to try it some time.

  • LOVE your videos...but what other parts of the squirrel do you use besides those hind legs and ribs? I'm trying to get into the whole squirrel thing (just got my 20 ga, and i've been gettin a few squirrels, but now i'd like to know how to use them!). Perhaps another video that shows how you quarter your critters? Thanks for a great channel :)

  • man if you hunt you wont worry about getting groceries

  • @JacobsRandomVideos

The day is coming where we will be depending on the land to supply us more and more. The people that can use the land and it's resources will survive.

  • great videos! im going to start hunting this year. starting with squirrel and rabbit (hopefully) i only have a 12 gauge though. question, when do you recommend field dressing em? when i hunt i will probably be far away from home. so is it better to just get my fill and then gut em all. or should you gut them right away. how long is ok before they need to be dressed. always been curious about this.

  • @punkrockike

Just a rule of thumb, but warm critters skin the easiest! So the sooner the better. Also if your critter may be gut shot the sooner you can clean the animal the better! Hope that helps ya! Good huntin' buddy!!

  • @punkrockike With Squirrel, you want to skin them warm. As in, like within 10 minutes of baggin them, otherwise they are tougher than hell to skin. Skin Squirrel's warm. You'll save a lot of time. Rabbits on the other hand you can keep em in cold weather for 3 days and still turn em inside out like a sock. Just remember to cut the pelt at the feet. It will make your life a bunch better. Or simpler yet, cut the feet off... Just a helpful hint :)

  • i like to use bb guns for small game its nice and quiet and i dont have to worry about bullets coming down and hurting someone still thanks for the vid i enjoyed the ride

  • nice video bud ..i shoot squirrels also

  • That looks delicious

  • I never had squirrel but it sounds good if that make any sense. I might get my 16ga. out next season and bag me a few.

  • yes it smells good

  • i didint know peoole at squirels huh go figure

  • i dont bag a few for dinner or lunch but when i go backpacking i find that it is easier to go stalk small game like this with a blowgun than my luck with a fishing pole i take both cause there light but i am under 21 so my parents arent letting me get a 22 but if u practice a blowgun is a nice option

  • ive never heard of a black squirrel but squirrels do have color faises like some wild turkeys turn white and no they are not tame turkeys its a color fais

  • i shot a pretty big red squirrel today (i live in eastern indiana)... i used a 40 grain hollow point and i was shooting straight up into a tree and i wasnt worried about it coming down, by the time it comes down it wont be going fast enuff to hurt anything. this video helped alot, thanks !

  • ive got 8 squrriles in a hickroy tree

  • @Sk8ingBirdBoy

Time to put 8 squirrels in the freezer then!!

  • Instead of boiling it, Brine it for 24 hours, 1 cup of salt and haldf a cup of sugar and one gallon of water. then dip it in egg wash first, then into the flour and fry at 350 degrees until golden. trust me. my wife went to culinary school.

  • @TexasDistortion Do you have a better description/recipe/directions to follow? I'd be interested in this.

  • go blue, good video

  • i shot one in the heart w/ my pellet gun today. it didnt even twitch.

  • nice stove burners

  • im 13 and i took 4 in a day by my self

  • Great Video!

  • I hope you are not shooting 22lr into the air? that stuff comes down about 2 miles away. Shotgun is safer

  • @HHODork

Shotgun would probably be safer but I like to eat my squirrels whole, Not turned into hamburger with a shotgun.

  • @wyttale Made me Hungry ... Squirrels, Back-strap and taters (hope there was some beans and cornbread) and wished I could help ya eat it.

  • @HHODork At the angle they are shooting ,,, couple hundred yards travel at best and return to Earth speed is just about enough to leave a bruise ...

  • @HHODork 22 isnt going two miles, not gonna happen

  • @HHODork A .22 lr will only travel about 1.1 miles at a 45-degree angle. Of course, that is with no wind resistance.

  • @HHODork not with a slug or buckshot

  • That squirrel looks damn tasty! Going out for my first time tommorow can't wait to try your recipe!

  • i agree with three6619 i shot my 6 pointer yesterday 1 shot one kill

  • 1 shot 1 kill. If you miss the first time then you must let the animal live because either 1. you can't hit shit, or 2. fate has given the animal a second chance in which case how dare you not do the same !

  • @three6619

So you're saying that all guns should be made into singleshots then?? You're a moronic baffoon that shoots your mouth off just to hear your own words. Piss off head case.

  • @wyttale Actually it would have been more acurate to accuse me of typing on my keyboard to see my own words !

  • @three6619 ur a fucking idiot

  • @TAYLORSBS

Thanks Taylor!! He is an idiot!

  • @wyttale ill be honest i didn't read the post you are replying to but there are good things about single shots ( i know you arent saying they are bad but still) personally i think i shoot better with single shots because i dont have another shot so i care more and take more time. mostly i dislike semi auto for hunting but thats just me i dont really care if other people use them. all in all bolt action is the way to go :D or lever if you are a badass.

  • @three6619 like my grandpa used to tell me when he was teaching me to hunt, if you shoot and miss you are finished for the day. and he was serious, every time i missed we would stop and he took me home and we practiced. I was pissed but it taught me not to pull the trigger unless i was sure i could hit the target. i miss my grandpa !

  • where are you at ive never seen a black squirrel around my area

  • @MckenzieRebel770

A small swamp in Southwest Michigan.

  • Im coming to y'alls house for supper. =)

  • Great video boy that plate looks delicious Y'all know how to live.

  • great video, thats some good eats!

  • thanks for the cooking part!!!

  • them squirrel look really good but the bad part about where i live is there is only gray squirrel and i can't seem to get them in the trees for very long any suggestions you might have i would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

  • @XLteamMODS

Squirrels actually prefer being on the ground as opposed to being in trees as most people think a squirrel should be. Set up along the edge of cut cornfields bordering woodlots. Squirrels will almost certianly show up to munch on the corn left behind from the picker. Pick them off when they stop to inspect the corn on the ground!! Good luck!!

  • @wyttale yeah i forgot to look back for a reply but the day i watched your video i shot a squirrel and the next day i got 2 squirrel so thanks a lot

  • @XLteamMODS

No problem man. Congrats on the squirrels!!

  • Great video. Exactly what i needed to know about how to pre boil them.

  • Those fried squirrel looked really good i think i am going to try them.

  • @Dovehunter371

You can't go wrong with some good fried squirrel!!

  • im impressed im a young hunter and enjoy squirrel hunting alot and when i get squirrel i only cut the back legs off and cook them but do u suggest quatering them like u did? is there any meat on the rib cage?

  • @XxsoullessrevengexX

MOST OF THE MEAT DOES COME FROM THE HIND QUARTER, BUT THE WHOLE SQUIRREL IS EDIBLE. THERE IS A GOOD STRIP OF MEAT ALONG THE SPINE SORT OF LIKE A BACKSTRAP FROM A DEER. THE FRONT LEGS HAVE A LITTLE MEAT ON THEM. IF YOU LIKE SQUIRREL MEAT THEN EATING THE SMALL QUARTERS IS WORTH IT!!

  • what state do you guys live in because i want to know where i can shoot me a black squirrel

  • My cousin and I are planning on going squirrel hunting this winter. I already know how to dress one from your video (thanks!), so how should we cook them? How long?

  • @slowride55

I boil them until they look like the meat is falling off the bone, then just fry them up in your favorite cooking medium!! Like salt, pepper and flour.

  • I knew that I saw one jump with the second shot.

  • Outstanding video. I watched your vid on cleaning a squirrel too, and appreciate the detail. Ive not cleaned squirrel, but now after watching how you have cleaned and cooked the meat i feel confident enough to try it myself. Appreciate your vids and the time you spent.

  • we had four squirrels today with three in one and the other in a tree less than 50 yards away from the other, it was raining squirrel. meats in the fridge now in salt water ready for the crock pot tomorrow, might even try your recipe instead.

  • reminds me of my cabin in the winter time in the poconos. beautiful when it snows.

  • where was this filmed? it looks like a great place to live.

  • @mrdubification

This is my back yard. I live there. And yes it is a beautiful place to live and to hunt.

  • I like this guy but his Michigan wear is annoying. GO STATE!

  • @BBKlima

  • don't tease me with those back sraps mmmmmm...

  • @flyingpengueins

I agree! Your deer rifle would do a number on a squirrel!! Thanks for your comments!!

    Terry

    Bonehead Outdoors

  • @flyingpengueins I heard that. You never see the game that you want unless your tag is for something else.

  • @flyingpengueins thats just how it is....

  • @flyingpengueins same here but one year i decide to try my hand at one with a 30-06 and shot it in the head to save the meat but the shock wave of the round destroyed everything

  • good job hunting and nice video

  • how long would u recommend to boil the squirrel for?

  • im getting a new rifle and um when exactly is the hunting season in illinois?

  • is there a particular taste? haven't had squirrel yet, was up for giving it a go this next season. wanted to know

  • @dieselfanaticIN

Squirrel is a naturally sweet meat. Just tends to be very tough.

  • @wyttale hense the long time boiling it lol, well thanks for the input, been lookin up some squirrel hunting techniques, hope to put em to use this coming season. Thanks again

  • mouthwatering fun!

  • @M21killer1 Water boils at 212 degrees, so thats how hot the water is!! LOL...But you should boil it until it's tender. Grease is really just to brown your meat with what ever you bread the meat in. Thanks for the comment.

  • this has got to be theee most bogan vid ever. classic bogan

  • one way i cook squirrel is by buying vegtable soup and tomato sauce and put it in the crock pot with the squirrel. and let it sit for a day or over night and it is juicy and comes off the bone easily.

  • Thanks

  • I like to take them ole squirrels and roll them in flower and then fry them kinda hard till golden brown then bake them for about 20 minuites and they are TENDER and really good.

  • how long should you boil them for?

  • i live in north carolina now so we dont get many fox, red, or black squirrels but we have a whole bunch of grey squirrels good video and thanks for the cooking tips
