@Galen052 good response. I've always taken Iago's explanation of his motives - 'ooh I didn't get the job I wanted' - to be quite a bit like the motives the Joker gives himself in this film - 'ooh my dad beat me,' or 'ooh my wife left me' - more of a mockery of the very idea that every evil act is a simple response to some obvious problem.
@ravenouscolonelhart Yes, everything he says is a manipulative mockery of normal peoples 'issues'sucking them into his way of thinking. Some people are just evil...who gives a shit why. Thats why i think psycholigy isnt much of a profession, if i got a problem, i'll fix it myself thanks doc..., no Prozac or Xanax for me, a Colt .45 will do the trick
@ravenouscolonelhart You know, the more I think about it, the more I don't buy Iago's explanation, either. Simply being upset is not enough to explain why someone would deliberately do so many horrible things. The real question is: Why would someone like Iago respond that way? Most people would not resort to that type of deception and even murder. That's what makes Iago and the Joker such fantastic villains. No REAL explanation is ever given for their actions.
@Ironcabbit That's true, but it kind of just backs the problem up a step. Why does it entertain him to see the world wrecked when virtually everyone else finds it disturbing? The psychology of villains is the real question here.

@thevoiceofreason94 Thats not entirely correct, you cant trade pokemon for goods and service's like class flights and 5 star hotels. Not all societys are like that, Thailand for example. I dont understand why your pissed either, its your life, if theres something about it you dont like, change it. Bitching on you-tube wont help., Id rather life be short and sweet, which it probably will be, than long and drawn out..Jokers a fictional character in a movie, its not real life. Fantastic acting tho
@ThePimpdaddy187 uhm....my point again was that money is a piece of paper. bitching on youtube? its called opinions. everyone has them and yes joker is a fictional character. you've never had a fictional idol before? why the hell do you think these characters exist? to entertain and perhaps inspire the young mind. why am i pissed? i was never pissed in teh first place. don't assume things
@KlaymenDel Because I "dont have one"? One of what, money? And how is it "obvious", to you bud?
Anyways to clairify, I do have money like everyone else but thats not what I meant. Our money system ensures the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor, itc sickening.
I suggest watching vids like The American Dream (in my favs), if you dont know what I'm talking about.
@pricture Oh. In that way. I thought you one who don't appreciate money at all, which make you the one who too busy yelling in the Internet, instead of working
This is my favorite part in any movie - because it completely challenges something that most people don't even think to - MONEY! So many people just blindly chase it, and the Joker is more interested in changing people.
can someone explain 0.16 to me.... where was THE ITALIAN [mob boss]?.. why was he in the hospital willing to leak information to Gordon instead of going to the joker meeting . Never understood that
I laughed so damn hard when The Joker starts throwing the money at Lao 0:27. I mean what the hell? He just randomly decides to start throwing money at the guy in the middle of a conversation!
the joker doesnt care about money i think he justs wants to show gotham that he is only as bad as they let him be because he couldnt have done all that by himself and that even the most pure people like harvey, can be corrupted
I know it's just a movie, but in real life, there's no way you could pay a henchmen enough money to pour gas on that huge mountain of cash and just stand by. Maybe it would be possible if all his henchmen were wearing bomb-collars or something, or if he had their families held hostage somewhere, but very doubtful. Can you imagine Joker trying to recruit new henchmen? walking into a bad neighborhood or shady bar with that makeup on? he'd get his ass kicked.
@drewnod And then you realized it's a movie with extreme personas like the Joker, where anything is possible. Oh wait, you seemed to have missed that.
@drewnod Most of his henchmen are psychos who are the kind of people he attracts. Not all criminals want money, maybe he had something else for them. Also, I think by this time in the film Joker already had control of most the crime in Gotham. If you are in a crime syndicate you're gonna follow who ever runs the show because most of those low lives don't have anything outside of crime to turn to. Do you think they are just gonna go get a job in a factory. Without leadership they're nothing.
@drewnod Well crazy people our free from worldly thoughts an possessions whats so ironic that is how God wants you to be...almost like the Joker HA HA HA HA
It is refreshing to witness the raw cynicism of this character after dealing with all the plastic smiles, all those perfect people, rules followers who won't admit how overrated humanity really is.
There was a fanfiction that said the joker did all of this kind of stuff because he knew that their universe's only purpose was to be a comic for ours
thats one way to fight inflation xP

pricture 5 months ago
@pricture Obviously because you probably don't have one =)
KlaymenDel 5 months ago
@KlaymenDel Because I "dont have one"? One of what, money? And how is it "obvious", to you bud?
Anyways to clairify, I do have money like everyone else but thats not what I meant. Our money system ensures the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor, itc sickening.
I suggest watching vids like The American Dream (in my favs), if you dont know what I'm talking about.
pricture 5 months ago
@pricture Oh. In that way. I thought you one who don't appreciate money at all, which make you the one who too busy yelling in the Internet, instead of working

This is my favorite part in any movie - because it completely challenges something that most people don't even think to - MONEY! So many people just blindly chase it, and the Joker is more interested in changing people.

can someone explain 0.16 to me.... where was THE ITALIAN [mob boss]?.. why was he in the hospital willing to leak information to Gordon instead of going to the joker meeting . Never understood that
ublec15 5 months ago
@ublec15 because batman interrogated him in the alleyway - he chucked him off the balcony, injusring him and putting him in the hospital.

I laughed so damn hard when The Joker starts throwing the money at Lao 0:27. I mean what the hell? He just randomly decides to start throwing money at the guy in the middle of a conversation!

It's a good job he doesn't need money to pay his flunkies or anything. Having an endless supply of expendable mooks is as cheap as chips.

@BaddeJimme I'd work for him just for a single drop of all that cash.

chucksmusicworld2010 6 months ago
I know it's just a movie, but in real life, there's no way you could pay a henchmen enough money to pour gas on that huge mountain of cash and just stand by. Maybe it would be possible if all his henchmen were wearing bomb-collars or something, or if he had their families held hostage somewhere, but very doubtful. Can you imagine Joker trying to recruit new henchmen? walking into a bad neighborhood or shady bar with that makeup on? he'd get his ass kicked.
drewnod 6 months ago
@drewnod And then you realized it's a movie with extreme personas like the Joker, where anything is possible. Oh wait, you seemed to have missed that.
MarcusKiner 6 months ago
