Wow its easy to do it that way when the mouse trap car is over half a meter. My school has restrictions, we have to make it equal or less than 50 cm in all dimensions. Fucking sucks
I have two articles and two videos on my scienceguyorg website on mousetrap cars including a PDF to download. I use screw eyes for bearings so you do not neet to drill holes and the steering can be adjusted.
I think you should grind a point on the tip of the arm and make the little snotty trouble maker kid lay on the gym floor in front of it. Wipe it on a poison tree frog first. I hope this helps.
@socccerguy99 well my car is gonna be the best and will probably go 60-more feet becuase of the MASSIVE pully sysyem plus a very complicated design of the overall car
The wheels are CD's. It is light. It's aluminum and balsa wood. If you want speed, you have to use wheels with traction and a much shorter lever arm. Ah, so many questions, and each one brings a new puzzle to unfold. Don't you love this project?
i have to make a mousetrap car for my tech ed. class, any tips on how to make a car as light as possible (less than 20 grams?) AND still go pretty fast AND a long distance? i know thats a lot....
just make the body of it, and wrap string around the rear axle, ((might wannna tape it in place or glue)) to the mouse trap bar, while the traps set, then when u release the trap it will pull the axle and make the wheels turn. use thin axle and have big tires
umm.......that was good i suppose but not compared to my one i made it is half the size and its not built for just distance. when i tested it last it was a comp and it went 632 metres in 1 minute
@fgndzst the vehicle starts at about 5 seconds into the video, leaving 43 seconds of run time. The info about the video says it goes approx. 32.5 metres. 32.5 metres in 43 seconds is .755 metres per second. the conversion rate for mps to mph is 1 metre per second = 2.23 miles per hour, giving the vehicle a speed of less than 2 miles per hour, not 22
get 2 10" pieces of wood, 2 3" axles 4 wheels and a mouse trap. Line u the wood next to each other drill 4 holes into the wood for your axles, put them in and put the wheels on. get a mouse trap and take off the rod and hook. glue the trap to the wood.get a ruler and hot glue it to the trap and tie a stringto the ruler. rap the string around the back axle and let er rip
O.k. then smart ass. Make a mouse trap car post a video of it going and see how far it goes. 32.5 meters comes out to over 90 feet. You try and make one that just goes 25 feet. You'll find that it is hard.

u could make this car faster and lighter by cutting out the excess wood in the middle

SMART! SMART! SMART!
It actually inspired me...i think it would travel further if the wheels are larger and lighter...like CDs.
But it's really neat how you extend the stick to make it travel slow.
Gonna still this idea :P

Are you seriously trying to tell us that your mouse trap car is going 37,920km/h (~22,752mph)?
