These are geological outcrops from underlying strata. They have been eroded by rain which dissolves the soft rock. There are a number of sedimentary layers. Some resistent to water errosion. Hence the jagged shapes.
it is a Giant menhirs placed in the mountain to protect the people who erected it from Evil spirits.. some theories that a numerous numbers of ancient man erected it.. but we dont know who really made it.. demm this is my favorite vifeos of all times.
Of course there are ruins all over, it was the capital city of the Visigoths in that area and still a great big town till it was destroyed in 1176. Not to mention all the earthworks from WWII when the Nazis were frantically digging for the treasure they had heard about. History is fascinating. Thanks for the video!
