thats probably not compressor surge, there is a sequential bov that releases multiple times, one right after the other several times. It sounds like surge but possible isn't, its possible for either in the video though, it sounds BEAST regardless

the fluttering after the initial high pitched blow off is oil shooting back into the turbo....ask me how i know.... if you like to rebuild turbos and motor a lot do what they did.

@skanknstein13 Im sorry bro but you couldn't be more wrong. fluttering noise is air bouncing back and forth between the throttle and compressor wheel. some people say it's bad, others (myself included), have actually owned turbo cars that flutter, and have had turbos last for years. no ones actually defined what, if at all damage is done because of flutter.

@link4253 the fluttering sound is compressor surge that is compressed air bouncing between the compressor blades and throttle plate this happens when the throttle is released and the throttle plate slams shut.The turbo,however, has no power to spin, because theres no load on the motor ( ~0-5% on the Throttle Postion Sensor) so theres no exhaust. This causes the turbocharger to backspin than spin in a forward direction producing the fluttering sound.This car has no BOV or its not set correctly.

It could also be where the BOV is positioned as well. Often location can cause compressor surge as well. Usually somewhere closest to the throttle body is best since thats the point where the airflow is cut off suddenly..
