  • Drink up, me hearties!

  • I blame all of the worlds problems from the 20th century to present day on a sandwich -_-

  • the only time in which pirates will actually be as numerous is if we manage learn how to travel through space as they do in star wars or star trek to easy to track someone on earth

  • Not that I wouldn't like to kick the Navy's ass but not in this age...

  • No you can't become a pirate (at least not someone that every one fears) because if you have a ship and crew and you start pillaging cargo ships or what ever they can send a submarine/air force/the navy anytime to send you to the bottom of the sea the weapons are too advanced to let pirates roam the seas as they want and you can't rise some flag and pretend you are a ship from some country like back than so sorry but we were born in wrong era damn it... great song /cheers

  • Amazing

  • This video not good make and this music nothing to me.

  • If Iwant to find a whole collection oif these Sea Chanty's where can I find them?

  • @DavelovesRealMusic I found a nice site with a lot of lyrics and pirate movies list but I can't post a link so PM me if you want it :)

  • I perform this song every week... Love it!!!

  • So glad I found this! I remember my Dad had this record and I could never get enough of this song. TY for posting and bringing back many fond memoreies of listening to this with my Father.

  • Love, love, love this song!!! Looking forward to the possibility of using it in one of our shows sometime..... Aye....we have a real pirate ship! The Black Raven rules St. Augustine!

  • I can say that movie is? Thank you.

Martin / "Raiwons" My other channel

  • Great video, great music with 1000 Stars.

    Martin

  • Addicted to the song :)

  • cool video.

  • Along with Robert Hunters Rum Runners a top pirate album!

  • Arrgh mateyz... i used to sing this one to my boy in the sole of several different sailboats when my son was small. He sang along as he got older. Now, grown, he is a boat captain, and a little pirate-ish as well. I'll have a glass of J.Wray and Nephew over ice and laugh through the smoke about past escapades.

  • McGuinn is a wonderman...

  • Thank you SO much for posting this, this was one of my dad's favorites and it will always make me think of him...Rest in Peace, Dad...May you sail the infinite seas of the Heavens :)

  • Pirates. Cooler than a ninja, drunker than a viking.

  • Really awesome

  • I may be old fashioned but I was born 300 yrs to late m thinks laddie bucks. A long way from my air craft carrier days, but when we hit port we were worse than pirates. Love those Asian wenches.

  • I deeply wish there'll be a great era of piratesagain like in early 1700. Just to kick the shit out of all these people who form politics together... Not for the killing, raping and shit, but just to make a statement throughout the world that a man is free tot do as he pleases!

  • @FireFistPortgas Aye but there are pirates today, they just wear suits and ties and plce CEO behind their names.

  • @FireFistPortgas agreed

  • @FireFistPortgas but they cant tax that !

  • @FireFistPortgas

"Just to kick the shit out of all these people who form politics together"

Way to be an agressive little faggot.

  • @Szgerle way to be an annoying bastard looking for a fight, get a life moron

  • @FireFistPortgas

So, telling an little teenager to stop having power fantasies on the internet somehow means I dont have a life. Arent you projecting a little too hard?

  • @Szgerle 'teenager' you talking about yourself there?

  • @FireFistPortgas

    Keep projecting please.

  • @Szgerle sorry, but i dont really get your point here? first you're calling me a faggot out of the blue on a comment which is almost a year old, then you're calling me a teenager and tell me i have power fantasies...

Leaves me 2 options, or you're a politician or you're just screaming for attention, if the last one is true, sorry pal, but this is the wrong way to get it, lol

  • @FireFistPortgas

"and tell me i have power fantasies..." Yes, murder fantasies for not understanding how politics work.

"Leaves me 2 options, or you're a politician " Or just someone mature telling you right.

"lol" No one above 16 ends sentences with "lol" or even uses that word.

  • @Szgerle Murder fantasies, not true, never said i would kill them, just kick there asses by proving them wrong, better read my comment again...

Someone mature telling me right, bullshit, someone mature would know what he's talking about, which you're clearly not...

And last, lol isnt only an english word, try to learn some foreign languages, so again, if you're actually mature, you're the biggest inmature grown up i've ever met...

  • @FireFistPortgas

"just kick there asses by proving them wrong"

Thats that proving them wrong, thats just having power fantasies.

"Someone mature telling me right, bullshit, someone mature would know what he's talking about, which you're clearly not"

You arent prepared to defend your opinion, you just bicth and moan. You arent entitled to have one.

Also, lol is an english word and using it at the end of sentences is a sure sign of immaturity.

  • @Szgerle again, read the comment, cause you're still jumping to wrong conclusions

and i am prepared enough to take you on anytime, just try to make a point first, cause right now it seems like you're only trying to get attention by insulting people

Last, lol is used in more laguages then just english, do some research before telling its immature to use it

  • @FireFistPortgas

"and i am prepared enough to take you on anytime" no you dont, you didnt have a point to begin with, you were just talking about your power fantasies.

"lol" Its an english word, used in an english context in a comment written in english.

  • @FireFistPortgas

    @FireFistPortgas

"and i am prepared enough to take you on anytime" no you dont, you didnt have a point to begin with, you were just talking about your power fantasies.

"lol" Its an english word, used in an english context in a comment written in english.

  • @Szgerle wanna be done with this bullshit you're putting on, you think i'm talking about power fantasies, but the writer (me) never meant to do so, considering of all people the writer himself knows what he meant best, we're done with that.

Second, lol is in this context used as a DUTCH WORD, like it or not, again written by the writer (me) etcetera etcetera.

Last and final, you started with the hate comment, calling me a faggot, so among us you're the immature dickhead.

  • @Szgerle By the way, feel free to commenting as much as you like to, i dont really care about you anymore... i gave you multiple chances to prove your point, which you didn't. Because of that i'm kinda done with you and wont react again, have fun spreading other hate comments

    Cheers from The Netherlands

  • @FireFistPortgas

I proved my points and you didnt answer any of them. Even so, you would be one who should bring the purden of proof for hate speech on the internet.

Ignoring my comment isnt neutrality, its surrender.

  • @FireFistPortgas

    "hate comments"

Harsh words someone who wants to randomly murder people.

  • @Szgerle This proofs once again how stupid you are... i said: "Not for the killing, raping and shit, but just to make a statement throughout the world that a man is free tot do as he pleases!" Now how does that fit in your accusing me of wanting to randomly kill people? Piss off dude, your points were weak from the start, now they're pretty much done for

  • @FireFistPortgas indeed... why not start one then?

hell even im tempted by that prospect

(PS: there ARE pirates nowadays. theres alot of them around northern queensland in australia always fighting with the navy)

  • @onarollof4 Everyone is tempted by that prospect because we all desire freedom, REAL freedom, not the freedom limited by media, police and politics. And I'm well aware of the presence of pirates these days. In fact its booming business; Mexico, Afrika, Indonesia... Lots of potential ;)

  • @FireFistPortgas i wonder how media police and politics would respond if someone started a crew to target the other pirates

    my opinion

    police: annoyed at revenue loss

    politics: confused

media: they'd have a ball XD they would love it

  • Most probably yes, but a pirate hunting fellow pirates = treason

  • @FireFistPortgas a pirate hunting other pirates is treason... unless you like blood (and what pirate doesn't) just makes your job of hunting them easier if they come to you

  • @onarollof4 What would you gain by hunting pirates? Merchant shipping has far higher value

  • @FireFistPortgas the merchants are targeted by the other pirates. 1 crew will target 10 merchants. you target the one lot of pirates and gain everything of value from 10 merchants + anyone else they robbed + the pirate themselves

    =win (provided you actually win)

  • @onarollof4 Sounds like you want to be a privateer ;) But then again, a pirate steeling from other pirates... You wont have any allies, you'll be all on your own considering the navy sees you as a pirate and the pirates see you as a traitor

  • @FireFistPortgas the navy see's you as a pirate and the other pirate 'CAPTAINS' see you as a traitor.. the pirates that work under them however are a different story

most thugs and such will pretty much always back the stronger person ;)

  • @onarollof4 I'd rather be a normal pirate, hunting down oil tankers and ships like it. lots of money to be made. Pirates hunting other pirates isn't my style, but it could work aswell ;)

  • @FireFistPortgas thats fair, you would still have to fight other pirates eventually though

  • @onarollof4 absolutely true, but I'll be fighting over a price, not over the price on their heads

  • @FireFistPortgas ... the price on their heads... i never thought of that, bonuses from fighting pirates increase by 1

all their loot from their skirmishes

    all their stuff

    anyone else they robbed

    + their bounties

    >.>

  • @onarollof4 You do know you have to either pick the bounty or their loot right, i mean, its not like the goverment will let you keep all these stolen goods, just because you took down some pirate. So more rules, no thanks. I rather live a real free life as a free pirate than a privateer's life

  • @FireFistPortgas -sigh- and who with half a brain would even mention the loot, or if you found it? the guys who are looking at death row, the only ones trying to get you thrown in with them? -cough-

  • @onarollof4 If pirates have a bounty on their heads it means they had some succesful raids already, meaning they got quite an amount of money with them. Considering the time of burried treasures is long gone. They cant hide it anywhere but on their ship. So of course youll have to hand in the loot.

  • @FireFistPortgas pirates around Australia always have a land base to 'camp' as it were, they would take whatever haul they got to a secret location somewhere around their camp, of course the government would realize this so every once in a while you should actually leave parts of the loot behind just so they don't become suspicious immediately

  • @onarollof4 well then, now all that is taken care of theres pretty much nothing stopping but a ship, a crew, guns and ammo ;)

  • @FireFistPortgas indeed... any ideas as to where to get those items?

  • @onarollof4 if i had, i would have been a pirate for a while now ;)

  • @FireFistPortgas good answer, crew and weapons/ammo thats a problem for me... designing a boat? not so much, you could probably pull up the specs on google for well any boat you wanted really (aside from naval class vessels EG: battleships)

  • @onarollof4 Weapons, ammo and a boat is easy really, you can buy weapons pretty much every where these days, same goes to ammo. Biggest problem is a crew which you can trust. All other things arent that hard

  • @FireFistPortgas lucky for those back thenprofecional navies ware easier to handle than now

  • @FireFistPortgas Oh yeah I mean Somali pirates aren't trying to do just this are they? Idiot...

  • @ratfinkXIX A man is free to dream is he not? If you dont have this ability to dream, then I really pity you.

  • @FireFistPortgas Say the same to the Nazis... men can dream but there are limits in the face of stupidity

  • @ratfinkXIX The good thing about dreams is that there are no limits or boundries, thats what dreams are all about. I deeply respect anyone who is willing to pursue that dream. By the way, Nazi's don't have anything to do with dreams

  • @FireFistPortgas I'm pretty sure someone dreamed up everything they did

  • @ratfinkXIX And that's exactly where you're wrong. Hitler didn't dream about conquering the world, Hitler wanted payback for the unbarable terms Germany had to keep itslef to after WW I. He blamed it on the jews (mistake). WW II started because the countries in WW I punished Germany far too hard and destroying their economy.

  • @FireFistPortgas Oh really? So his attacks on CzechoSlovakia and Poland were in response to WWI? Apart from the fact that neither of those countries were part of the prime co-signers on the treaty of Versailles....

  • @ratfinkXIX So what? These lands where part of Germany before WW I, and were taken away from them when they lost. So yea, its all caused by WW I. Look into some history books with old charts in them, you'll see that parts of poland, czechoslovakia and russia used to be german territory

  • oh man, i wish i could sing this seriously on a pirate boat.

  • Great song, many thanks. For politically correct whinos: Ships were and still are commonly referred to as She or Her. If you believe there is an underlying tone of raping a woman, it must be your own sick mind. Read the lyrics.

  • Ah, the brainless mumbling of political correctness in criticism of a pirates' song. We need more pirates and fewer academics.

  • If you can get a copy of Roger's album "Live from Spain." There is an awesome version of this song on it.

  • Thanks for uploading this song!

Disturbing how the words he use refers both to the plundering of a ship and the rape of a woman...

  • @2happy2care Hmmm so you haven't read any book about sailing or pirates? In most of the books the author uses such words to describe a ship or even in the conversations of the characters about something that doesn't have anything to do with the sea... And you must read some books to understand that the sailors of that time loved they're ships more than anything...

  • @diablofreaklot or you know... have a boat.

  • @diablofreaklot I agree with 2happy2care, if you read the lyrics some stuff is questionable. Most notably, the "hold as hot as st. elmos fire". why is that important? Also, bear in mind the Rose is often used a phallus. Moreover the line stating "She looks the perfect shape and size Let's all aboard and strip her" could def. have a double meaning. "We swung from the deck to ride her"... interesting choice of words. Even "hoisting the jolly roger" might be alluding to an erection.

  • @diablofreaklot Not arguing, just providing examples of why what 2happy is a valid critique. Not saying its right. Not saying you're right; sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. but in so saying, sometimes it is not.

  • Neither had I heard this song in 30 years or more.

  • this brings back more memories than any other song :)

  • never take this off please

  • @sneif24 i havent heard this song in 30 years...thanks ive been trying to find it...awsome

  • Nice use of the Master and Commander clips.

  • I don't think I've heard this since I was on college radio. Had never heard of McGuire, had never heard the song before...... or since. And I even still remember the words. Amazing!! Thank you SO MUCH for posting this!!

  • my dad has this record and i used to listen to this song over and over again thanks alot for posting this song

  • Thanks so much for the upload.
