Wasn't that just something that Meyer made up as well? Everything I've just looked up says that's just another name for Carlisle, or they all have the same generic definition: "a vampire on the side of goodness", which no reference to when the term appeared or in what folk lore it's actually in. I don't think 'beneficial vampire' is an actual breed, I think it's just a nickname.

In fact, Wikipedia just takes you right to Carlisle's profile when you search the term there, citing it as such.
