Had to drive 500+ miles today, and let the Danny Gokey studio versions of songs play over and over. I really had to say that once Danny and Kris had more time to work things out, and Danny was feeling a little bit better, that they really did an exceptional job on this song. The harmony was very good, and each stood out in their own way to make this a truly enjoyable experience. Too bad that it was an off night during the show, and a lot of Lambert fans are using that to hype their project
i think wut it was was that all the guys wanted to do the duet with allison(cuz its better if u do a duet with a girl). and maybe kris and danny didnt feel comfortable doing the duet together so it might have felt ackward for them. and also, danny or kris did say that they had a hard time picking out a song that would "fit" them both. so danny just let kris pick the song and said w/e he picked was fine. thats wut it was. btw, i have nothing against kris, i like kris too, but danny more.
How can u feel more bad for Kris than Danny? Everything went Kris' way. He wasn't overpimped by producers so the public didn't tire of him. Adam and Danny suffered from a ridiculous backlash over sexual orientation and a tragic death respectively. Kris suffered from nothing. I feel for Adam b/c the top prize was wrongfully stolen from him b/c he's gay and I feel bad for Danny b/c ppl are mean to him for no good reason. And ppl really didn't vote for Adam b/c he's gay and they are stupid.
I was COMPLETELY pulling for Adam to win simply because I feel he deserved it (I do adore Kris though too), but to say he didn't win because of his sexuality is just silly- even Adam himself thinks so :) He was runner up! If it was really a prejudice thing, he never would have gotten that far.
Nope, Kris just happens to have a style that appeals to a wider audience, that's all. Not a bad thing! Adam is still going to be a huge rock star, and this way Kris got the recognition he deserved too :)
The thing is, what MAKES Adam so amazing and what gives him the potential to be truly groundbreaking is precisely WHY he didn't win. Because he's polarizing, he's non-conventional- he's someone we haven't really seen before. Pretty much ALL great legends start out with some people who hate them too- because if art is truly new, not everyone's going to get it right away.
Kris is fantastic at what he does and super talented and I love him, but let's be real here. He's not GROUNDBREAKING. His style is awesome and most people love it- because we KNOW it. Because it's exactly what's popular right now. Adam's style is much newer- less conventional. So naturally not as many people are going to take to it right away. But 50 years down the road or whatever? If he plays his cards right, he really DOES have the potential to do something truly memorable! :)
Again though, I LOVE Kris. I think he's so talented and so good at what he does, and he has the best taste in music <3 And I think he's going to be VERY successful in today's music industry- at least I hope so! But I just think that Adam has the potential to be more groundbreaking because he is so unique and fearless as a performer. But I was just INCREDIBLY happy that Kris won over Adam instead of Danny! haha. Not a Danny fan. Nice voice, but no charisma or artistry imo

I know the people who have invested great sums of money in lambert have a big stake in the return on their investment. I <3 Kris's opening vocals. I think he totally deserved to win. Adam might have stronger vocals, but Kris is a true musician. He might sound more generic now, but I think with time he could grow to be a better, more unique musician in his own right if Brand New Shoes is any hint of what the future has in store for his fans. I didn't get into Idol until Post-Season, but both Adam and Kris would have gotten votes from me.
There are a lot of true musicians out there. There are also tons of great vocalists. What sets Adam apart from the rest is his vocal chops (extraordinary vocal range) and his stage presence and charisma whihc he exudes. I am by no means a liberal, I do not like their politics i.e., * universal healthcare* and pacificism and crap like that. BUT I HAD EARS AND EYES AND I VOTED FOR THE ONE WHO DELIVERED THE BEST PERFORMANCES THE WHOLE SEASON LONG INCLUDING THE FINALE-ADAM.
Kris' vocals during the start of this song are just amazing. He is just so talented. The live version of the song was a train wreck, mainly because of Mr. Gokey, but the studio version is just amazing.
Also I found it dumb that simon decided to judge on "who sang better" and gave Kris a rough time. Simon basicy was edging Danny on to act like more of a fool.
The order or the people that sang... Kris sang Renegade then at commercial he changed costume and had to immediately sing again. (Come Together). That was unfair also... Of course Adam is always going to sing last which brings him in more votes. Sad 2 c him lose =(. Anyways theres no way Danny could have sang two songs in a row like dat

I'ma Adam fan but I have to feel for Kris... He was completely left out. Danny didn't give a shit about him. He saw the whole thing as a '"competition" that he was only in to win. While for Adam and Kris ia was just fun. If you have the live video version of Renegade you'll see that Kris attempts to look at Danny and make it fun, but Danny just stares forward at the crowd and dosn't acknowledge Kris at all.
U don't think ragging Danny and making crap up is wrong. It is. Who is to say how seriously any of them took the competition. You aren't in their minds. Adam did what was PERFECT for him to do on country week. Country isn't his thing, he knew that, WE all knew that, so he took a country song and made it his own! That's not a bad thing, that's artistry :) The point of American Idol is not to be able to do every style of music ever- it's meant for people to show who THEY are as artists. That was exactly what Adam did- he used the platform to establish who HE is as an artist. He's not a country artist, so why should he have done it country?
Take that up with all of ur PR people and pundits that shout out the party line that Adam can DO and SING ANYTHING !! Can he or can't he? If you are the authority on this issue than let's take your statement here, and make it the official one. The studio is much better than the live verison was. In the live verison Danny was trying to scream over Kris. He knew Kris was better than him and he was trying to out shine him. I love this verison because their voices actually work well together. But I am glad to see them not use this in the tour!!

totally agree. Adam and Allison should have been 1 and 2. Though Danny or Kris were just as reasonable num. 2's. The only things that were certain was the top 4 were very talented and that Adam was heads and shoulders above the rest of them.

And for the record, I really don't hugely DISLIKE Danny. I'm just not particularly a fan. And I do think that this live performance really showed that he is quite socially inept in a lot of ways. I don't think it was INTENTIONAL, but I just think he never even realized that Kris was trying to engage with him (which is what a duet is meant to be), because he was so in his own world. He just needs to how to better pick up social ques from those around him. Because it DID make him look like an arse

Had to drive 500+ miles today, and let the Danny Gokey studio versions of songs play over and over. I really had to say that once Danny and Kris had more time to work things out, and Danny was feeling a little bit better, that they really did an exceptional job on this song. The harmony was very good, and each stood out in their own way to make this a truly enjoyable experience. Too bad that it was an off night during the show, and a lot of Lambert fans are using that to hype their project

i think wut it was was that all the guys wanted to do the duet with allison(cuz its better if u do a duet with a girl). and maybe kris and danny didnt feel comfortable doing the duet together so it might have felt ackward for them. and also, danny or kris did say that they had a hard time picking out a song that would "fit" them both. so danny just let kris pick the song and said w/e he picked was fine. thats wut it was. btw, i have nothing against kris, i like kris too, but danny more.

How can u feel more bad for Kris than Danny? Everything went Kris' way. He wasn't overpimped by producers so the public didn't tire of him. Adam and Danny suffered from a ridiculous backlash over sexual orientation and a tragic death respectively. Kris suffered from nothing. I feel for Adam b/c the top prize was wrongfully stolen from him b/c he's gay and I feel bad for Danny b/c ppl are mean to him for no good reason. And ppl really didn't vote for Adam b/c he's gay and they are stupid.

I was COMPLETELY pulling for Adam to win simply because I feel he deserved it (I do adore Kris though too), but to say he didn't win because of his sexuality is just silly- even Adam himself thinks so :) He was runner up! If it was really a prejudice thing, he never would have gotten that far.
Nope, Kris just happens to have a style that appeals to a wider audience, that's all. Not a bad thing! Adam is still going to be a huge rock star, and this way Kris got the recognition he deserved too :)

The thing is, what MAKES Adam so amazing and what gives him the potential to be truly groundbreaking is precisely WHY he didn't win. Because he's polarizing, he's non-conventional- he's someone we haven't really seen before. Pretty much ALL great legends start out with some people who hate them too- because if art is truly new, not everyone's going to get it right away.

Kris is fantastic at what he does and super talented and I love him, but let's be real here. He's not GROUNDBREAKING. His style is awesome and most people love it- because we KNOW it. Because it's exactly what's popular right now. Adam's style is much newer- less conventional. So naturally not as many people are going to take to it right away. But 50 years down the road or whatever? If he plays his cards right, he really DOES have the potential to do something truly memorable! :)

Again though, I LOVE Kris. I think he's so talented and so good at what he does, and he has the best taste in music <3 And I think he's going to be VERY successful in today's music industry- at least I hope so! But I just think that Adam has the potential to be more groundbreaking because he is so unique and fearless as a performer. But I was just INCREDIBLY happy that Kris won over Adam instead of Danny! haha. Not a Danny fan. Nice voice, but no charisma or artistry imo

I know the people who have invested great sums of money in lambert have a big stake in the return on their investment. However, some of us who happen to like Danny are feeling just a little bit nauseated by being force fed the party line on lambert. Can you take this to a lambert vid instead? PS how come Rolling Stone attempted to assassinate Danny by saying HE was the polarizing one?

I <3 Kris's opening vocals. I think he totally deserved to win. Adam might have stronger vocals, but Kris is a true musician. He might sound more generic now, but I think with time he could grow to be a better, more unique musician in his own right if Brand New Shoes is any hint of what the future has in store for his fans. I didn't get into Idol until Post-Season, but both Adam and Kris would have gotten votes from me.

There are a lot of true musicians out there. There are also tons of great vocalists. What sets Adam apart from the rest is his vocal chops (extraordinary vocal range) and his stage presence and charisma whihc he exudes. I am by no means a liberal, I do not like their politics i.e., * universal healthcare* and pacificism and crap like that. BUT I HAD EARS AND EYES AND I VOTED FOR THE ONE WHO DELIVERED THE BEST PERFORMANCES THE WHOLE SEASON LONG INCLUDING THE FINALE-ADAM.

Kris' vocals during the start of this song are just amazing. He is just so talented. The live version of the song was a train wreck, mainly because of Mr. Gokey, but the studio version is just amazing.

Also I found it dumb that simon decided to judge on "who sang better" and gave Kris a rough time. Simon basicy was edging Danny on to act like more of a fool.
The order or the people that sang... Kris sang Renegade then at commercial he changed costume and had to immediately sing again. (Come Together). That was unfair also... I'ma Adam fan but I have to feel for Kris... He was completely left out. Danny didn't give a shit about him. He saw the whole thing as a '"competition" that he was only in to win. While for Adam and Kris ia was just fun. If you have the live video version of Renegade you'll see that Kris attempts to look at Danny and make it fun, but Danny just stares forward at the crowd and dosn't acknowledge Kris at all.

U don't think ragging Danny and making crap up is wrong. It is. Who is to say how seriously any of them took the competition. You aren't in their minds. I can guarantee you Danny was a lot less serious than Kris and Adam. Danny experienced real loss and tragedy and a nationally televised singing contest takes a huge backseat to that. Danny had to endure tons of crap from the media cough cough Michael Slezak and co cough. (Adam should have own based on talent.)

Adam did what was PERFECT for him to do on country week. Country isn't his thing, he knew that, WE all knew that, so he took a country song and made it his own! That's not a bad thing, that's artistry :) The point of American Idol is not to be able to do every style of music ever- it's meant for people to show who THEY are as artists. That was exactly what Adam did- he used the platform to establish who HE is as an artist. He's not a country artist, so why should he have done it country?

This was a much better duet than Adam and Allison in my opinion. I think Danny and Kris's voices compliment each other better than Adam's and Allison's do.
This version is much better than the live version! Danny was a bit too loud and Kris was pitchy, but this version is amazing.

The studio is much better than the live verison was. In the live verison Danny was trying to scream over Kris. He knew Kris was better than him and he was trying to out shine him. I love this verison because their voices actually work well together. But I am glad to see them not use this in the tour!!
