u should improve your knowledge about music and who invented it! thats arabic melody, and do you know whats that wooden instrument in the video? ofcourse u dont know it b'cause its an arabic instrument called (oud)..
Ararat! Look it up! Duduk, look it up! Improv, built on anything you like! Roots are buried, flowers are to be enjoyed by all. Armenian roots, flowers for the world. Stop fighting
Is it normal to interchange modes within a piece, in armenian music? This is something which is a not normally done in greek music. Sounds cool though. I would say more jazzy than ethnic for this reason.
if some1 play duduk that doesnt mean that it is a armenian music.this is not a armenian traditional music.nothing to do with the organ. And what its all about greek music?Did anyone asked or compare anything?Dont make stupid comments please.
I am not sure if this piece is armenian. Read the description. I am making an observation as regards to the modes (dromous) and not the nationality of the piece or the instruments played. These instruments are shared by many countries. My comment was not a criticism to anyone. These musicians are great.
The piece is Veni Veni Emmanuel (or "Oh come, oh come Emmanuel") and is a very old Latin Christmas hymn. Nope. Not Armenian, and the use of substituted chords that change the sense of tonality is definately more modern/jazz than traditional. Seems like duduk is the go-to "ethnic" instrument anymore, especially for movie soundtracks. A mixed blessing . . .
What's all this about stupid comments? Btw this is not a duduk, it is a bloul. Rialas was probably comparing his idea of folk music with what he knows best: greek folk music. And indeed, changing modes within pieces is not usual.
Did anyone offend you? Don't start fights when nobody's in the wrong, please.
Great vid!,I love Pedro's duduk and the Oud,but I dont enjoy the vids recorded at NAMM,always people walking and talking everywhere, other musicians playing another tune, but that's what NAMM is all about:A music instrument market...
