  • I've got a far better ad.

Mark Stanford putting his mistress ahead of South Carolina.

  • Is Republican policy so perfect that they simply don't need stimulus funds in South Carolina because they have no problems? I doubt it.

  • South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford would never play politics and put individual interests over the needs of the citizens of South Carolina. He has a way of seeing the world differently, especially when he is a Republican, so Democrats, please stop blaming Governor Sanford for the economic miseries going on in the country!!! Just because George Bush caused the economic crisis doesn't mean you have to blame on the Republicans, like Mark Sanford! TOO MUCH!!!!

  • Sanford is playing more than politics. He is playing house in Argentina, and not with his wife and kids.

  • lol exactly, and GOP is calling for his resignation to.

  • This ad is garbage.

  • This Governor ought to get a medal and thanks from the state citizens for his actions!. Once the Obama bunch gets their hands into the state via this stimulus offer they now have control and then the government can tell him and the state & its citizens what to do, how to do it and when. Plus The debt along with these plans, do I hear bankrupt the country? Live on less than you make, Congress and Mr. President, Follow Dave Ramey's advice and read the 'Total Money Makeover', Gov Sanford must have!

  • He's not being irresponsible, he's being responsible. What's so bad about paying down debt rather than adding to it with stimulus money? And what happens when the stimulus money runs out? I think that every governor should be doing to same thing as Sanford. He is one of the few that are sending a message that the American people as a majority are sick of bailouts. My heart doesn't weep for overpaid governments employees and bureaucrats. shrink the size government, cut taxes and save money.

  • I think that some of the money should go to paying off debt, and some to the schools, it's extremely important that schools do receive this money.

  • That's fine...but let that money come from the state...not the rest of the country. Why should I be expected to pay for another states irresponsible spending? The Federal Government cannot exist without the states...not the other way around...at least that's the way the Founding Father's saw it. What the country has almost completely forgotten about is PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. We need to go back to the beginning and start anew and re-learn the instructions from the Constitution.

  • Yeah, no kidding, BMTroubleU!!! After all, all these Wall Street Bailouts are TOO MUCH for middle-class and working-class Americans to handle! And all this bureaucracy has sent state governors like South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford OVER THE EDGE!!!!! I hope President Barack Obama doesn't make a mistake on the whole stimulus-package-money idea. Besides, several state governors in this country are branching out other financial resources for stimulating the well-being of the United States!!!!

  • America have bad times, can it be becuse they have killed so many civilians lately?Justice have to be done and some perhaps are punished already?Or are the people in Gaza not to be caunted=

  • Governor Sanford is a rare breed of politician--one who acts on principles. He believes in fiscal conservatism, limited government spending, limited government interference, & individual liberty and responsibility. While other so-called "conservatives" are selling out their principles for money, he's taking a stand. The Founding Fathers would be proud.

  • Way to go, Governor Sanford!! I only wish my governor was as smart!

  • He was elected by the people why is this ad being aired when they obviously don't want some bent over democrat spewing obama rhetoric at them?

  • By trying to push Obama's agenda of socialized healthcare and education in this ad, it seems to me that the DNC is "playing politics" to a much greater extent than is Sanford.

  • What a loaded, fearmongering ad. Ridiculous. You guys make it seem like if Sanford doesn't accept a few hundred million in stimulus funds that everyone's gonna be on the streets. LMAO

  • Lol. "Skyrocketing foreclosures." The woman narrating this ad acts like it's some kind of accident, no fault of the idiotic homeowners who took out loans they couldn't afford. Come on! I can see right through that doubletalk.

  • HR 1207 is on it's way. As this kind grinding of gears between people in need and people with history books continues, suddenly the truth will out. And you're ALL going to be pissed. Sanford has the right idea because he sees what you can't see. But I don't blame you, you're ignorant of it by its very design. Just keep an open mind in the weeks and months ahead. Pay attention to what the status quo's critics say. Judge it for yourself.

  • We are sufering NOW. What will happen to the thousands of people who will run out of unemployment and cannot find a job. How sick is this. Something is wrong with this man. Lets handle the NOW crisis. He is too bust trying to sell his million dollar home inorder that he may build his wife her DREAM home. Sounds like A 2009 PHAROAH. Let our money go...

  • SARAH PALIN 2012 !

  • she can suck my dick in 2012

  • That would be difficult, as seeing that you have no dick. You are obviously an insecure, small cocked little boy. Do the female race a favor, and castrate yourself quickly. You have no cock anyway, so why not.

  • Hmm...not the sharpest knife in the drawer, I see. Insecure? I can tell! You are cockless...

    SARAH PALIN 2012

  • well, if you want to join the bitch when i do her in 2012, just ask. Don't be shy, Republican shit.

  • You could not "do" anything. You have no cock, we've established that. You are an insecure, dickless loser. I've got to go now, say hello to the other patients for me. Bye Bye!

  • lol, you are really fucked up in the head.

    bye bye Mrs popcikle bitch.

  • The reason Sanford is rejecting a portion of the funds is because the money will go to the newly unemployed. The newly unemployed don't typically make campaign donations to a politicians election committee. If this was money going to some big Sanford sugar-daddy, he'd make sure to sign off on the money. Bigger issue too isn't state sovereignty. Sanford is under no obligation to take funds. He just can't pick and chose -- he can't exercise a line item veto; he can't re-write the legislation.

  • lol, i don't know much about this but i'm pretty sure hes refusing the funds because there are serious strings attached, and state sovereignty is at risk. state sovereignty is one of our biggest protections from the federal gov't.

  • The operative phrase is...

    "I don't know much"

  • republicans don't care about poor people. If your not a millionaire they don't care about you.

  • Congratulations, you win "Most Ignorant Comment of the Day".

  • stop listening to Rush you ditto head and think. They are against welfare, against social security. They are a country club political party who use christians fundamentalists and thats the truth.

  • i wonder how many of you who are in favor of this hypocrite are about to run out of unemployment benefits, have no health care, or are about to be laid off unless the money comes.

  • Taking the money is the equivalence to a broke person using a credit card to live on for a few months. Sure he can get the essentials, but when he maxes out he owes back even more of the money he didn't have to begin with and is in even worse shape than before. This is a loan, with interest, to the state that is expected to be payed back, it looks like he is thinking what will happen in the long term.

  • Sanford is thinking long-term alright. He wants a return to a slave-based economy where the poor -- white and black -- serve the rich and politically connected. As far as spending goes, the debt is incurred by the federal government; not the state government. Also, with unemployment money, the dollars get spent -- that's money that goes to local businesses in South Carolina, and keeps more people from falling into poverty during tough times. It's not a long term answer, but its right for now

  • rejecting money with strings attached that will insure the state will be worse off when it runs out by the end of the year? Good for him!

  • Is this a joke? lol.

Mark Sanford = Fighting for the taxpayers

Democrats = Fighting against small business owners and workers

  • I love how people applaud Sanford's request to pay off S. Carolina's state debt with stimulus money. A real conservative move there: running up huge state debt with a GOP-led state legislature and then having the US federal taxpayer foot the bill for them. Can you imagine the Republican response if the governor of New York or Illinois said they want the US Government to pay off their state debt?

  • Mark Sanford is 100% correct! Obama is blindly thowing money around. Sanford ... show him how to run a high executive office - particularly by managing money appropriately and after considering the long term effects of one's actions!!!

  • Obama made clear that for him the economy takes a very distant back seat to the massive expansion of government for which it provides cover.

Obama has made a strategic calculation that, to advance his plans for socialized health care, green energy, and a big-government state, its to his advantage for things to get worse, so that everyone becomes dependent on the government. Dems are too stupid to realize that eventually they'll run out of other people's money to steal.

  • Gov. Sanford is right. Too many strings attached to this money, the DNC is playing the politics here at expense of the poor. Using it as a wedge issue.

Ask yourself, what happens when the money runs out.

Sanford is right to want to pay down debts, and refuse money to spend for more debt, as it will run out.

Sanford does not want to gamble in these precarious times.

That's what dems have been doing, at expense of poor, with affordable housing meltdown, etc. we were warned about since 1999 (NYT)!

  • I feel pity for you who do not know the truth.

You will have to find out the bitter way . You will not be happy in a few years, or months, when we are in worse trouble than we are now.

Do you have any idea what it is like for your dollar to completely fail?

If not, check Peter Schiff or even Ron Paul and find out....you will be shocked!

I feel sorry for your children and grand children who will despise you for what you have done. And I cry because of the demise of the USA.

  • Stanford should take all the money or refuse all the money. Pure and simple!

  • Sanford is just doing what he has done for 15 years, looking out for the economic welfare of us all. The man knows his economics, and he is one of only a few in government who has integrity and truly cares about the Constitution.

  • Most of you are too uninformed to understand that if SC takes the money, the state will lose all power & be a slave to the US government. That is not what the Constitution says! The States are supposed to be the governing bodies and the Fed gov has very few abilities.

We are supposed to be the leaders and the Reps we send to Congress & elect as our Presidents are supposed to be our servants, not the other way around.

  • Governor Sanford should resign and let someone become governor who will take care of the people, And not play party politics.

  • go democrats our governor mark sanford is an idiot i cant wait till 2010 so he can get his (bleep) out

  • Watch 'Obama Deception'

and pass this message to anyone

  • Wow, so now the federal government can extort the SC state Governor to take money he doesnt want for his state? Thats the Fed trying to control a states revenue. If no one sees what the hell is wrong with this they are morons or an obamabot.

  • Lets be honest all politicians play politics. The real question is whether or not this politician is playing politics at the expense of the nation.

I think only time will tell.

  • Con says:

the Gop are betting against america.

Nobody bets against america and wins.

Exactly!! America IS the private sector. Obama Pelosi and Reed bet against the private sector and created this "stimulas package that shows they bet AGAINST America knowing how to spend its money and bet that they knew better. They also bet against americans realizing that inflation and the devalueing of the American dollar is the result of record spending.... "America" will realize this in 2010 & 12.

  • I support Sanford 100%. 52 % of the people agree with him too. Get over it Jim Clayborne and Carol Fowler.

Do you agree with Governor Sanford's desire to use stimulus money to pay down state debt?

    Yes= 52%

    No =48%

  • @millier

That's not the same thing as agreeing he should turn down stimulus money. Stanford is just posturing to score points with the extreme right wing nutjob base that's all that's left of the republican party. He knows the state legislature is going to overturn him. Either that or he's thinking about the republican primaries and is already bailing on South Carolina because he's burning bridges in his own state.

  • cough

  • Mark Sanford is just another ideological wacko who could care less about the well-being of South Carolina citizens.

  • Taking stimulus money means you have to continue funding the projects next year without Federal aid. South Carolina doesn't the money to do this year and they won't have it next year. The stimulus is a scam.

  • crarjo

  • "The Legend of Robbin' Hood"

Robbin' Hood steals from the middle class (Bush bailouts) and gives a small % of it to the poorer class (Obama stimulus).

To pay for both he increases the money supply, with help from his friend the 'Sheriff of Feddingham', Once adjusted by inflation, both middle and poorer classes have less than they started with, while Robbin' has more.

Robbin' and the Sheriff have a merry laugh, from his forest compound, as the victims blame each other for their woes.

    The End

  • Who is playing politics again? The DNC certainly is not, right?

Does the DNC want to talk about the spending and program mandates that states are responsible for AFTER Federal funding goes away?

Can the DNC discuss the assumption of why its better for states to send their tax dollars out of each state, to the filth in the swamp of DC, only to be allocated back to the states based on political bias?

We live in a Republic, people! We should Praise a man of courage like Sanford.

  • its weird people dont see that both the republican and the democratic party is controlled by the secret societies.

  • tax weed to pay off the national debt

    it is safer than alcohol

  • legalize weed tax it regulate it and save the economy

  • Economists Give Obama an "F"

Obama and Timmy Geithner received failing grades trying to revive the economy from latest Wall Street Journal survey.

The Dow Jones industrial average, has reacted to Obama by plunging 20+ percent since he became president. That's an obliteration of wealth that no stimulus bill will recoup. The market has lost nearly 30 percent of its value -- trillions of dollars, not from CEO bonuses, as Obama wants you to swallow, but from your 401(k) and the private sector.

  • WSJ now owned by Murdoch, who owns FUX news, so it's the same baseless garbage. Sorry-- no cigar.

  • "Rise of Islam"? Now I know you're a whack job.

  • I guess being a partisan hack really does mean being in denial. Take a look at Europe.

  • Shut up inbred fucktard.

  • yea the democrats dont like it when an American does the right thing for future generations.who wants that stolen money just to be controlled by the tyrants in our country.

  • "yea the democrats dont like it when an American does the right thing for future generations.who wants that stolen money just to be controlled by the tyrants in our country"

Reagan increased budget spending by $465.422 (68%), HW Bush increased budget spending by $265.841 billion (23% in 4 years), W Bush increased budget spending by $1,038.671 billion (55%).

Clinton increased budget spending by $453.678 (32%): the least percent (if you half it to compare with HW's single term).

  • "Reagan increased budget spending by $465.422...

Clinton increased budget spending by $453.678"

    Those are both in billions...

  • I'm sorry, but small government is not what caused this economic situation. Government subsidizing of firms such as Frannie and Freddie and artificially low interest rates set by the Federal Reserve are what caused this problem. I stated that I believe small government and self-reliance is what has made this country great...not the nonexistence of government. Neither of today's two major political parties believe in small government and fiscal conservatism...they are the same. AHHHH!!!

  • Fannie and Freddie are minor players in this mess, the real players are JP Morgan, Citigroup, Bank of America, AIG and all the hedge funds.

"Neither of today's two major political parties believe in small government and fiscal conservatism"

Neither do you, you are just repeating talking points, spammer.

  • And what about the artificially low interest rates set by the federal reserve?

Fannie and Freddie are hardly minor players, but my point was that government subsidies of firms such as Fannie and Freddie (insert any of the "real players" you mentioned here) are a large part of the problem...along with artificially low interest rates.

Did you really resort to calling me a spammer as a rebuttal?

  • I agree about the Fed and low interest rates 100%

Fannie and Freddy are not the problem and never were. The CRA was not the problem, those are all talking points from spammers - if you aren't one, you are repeating them.

The only issue with Fannie and Freddy was they played the Credit Default swap game too, along with the banks, and that can be fairly blamed on the Democrats. That's about 10% of the problem.

JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Citi, BofA, Bear, Stanley. Them.

Plus the Fed = JP Morgan

  • If you don't think fmae and fmac weren't a major part of the problem you are denying reality. The NYT in a 1999 article, various politicians including McCain prior 2008, warned of risky loans these government backed orgs (that means me and u) took/w lower lending standards forced upon them by dems during the '90s, when home loans to poor shot up. That was done under Clinton, with help from ACORN activism and community organizers like obama, who is applying his divide and dissolve strategy today.

  • Where's south carolina... ? Is it a state?

  • Republicans are truly the scum of the earth. How stupid does one have to be to vote for such complete hypocrites? Your IQ's are non existent. That is why GOP always guts education. They need ignoramuses to support their party.

    Truly disgusting!!!!!!!!!!

  • You big dummy

  • South Carolina: The next blue state.

  • Barack Obama's disapproval rating is up to 35%

Tell the DNC to stop attacking Republicans.

It's hurting our party, its hurting Obama.

  • Republicans always try to pose like Democrats on message boards and offer "friendly" advice, lol. South Carolina will be a blue state soon thanks to the irresponsible actions of Governor Sanford.

  • Mark Sanford, the 21st Century version of George Wallace.

  • How will printing and borrowing money we will never be able to pay back going to help us...any of us? Also, who is the federal government to decide that tax payers' money from one state should go to pay off the debt of another state across the country? This country was built on self-reliance and small government and it are these principles which will fix the economy...government "stimulus" spending will only lengthen our economic problems. Government is not the answer.

  • This is tired rhetoric. Small government and Big Business is a recipe for failure. The stimulus plan invests jobs in the state and of course it takes a Republican to sabotage that.

  • What is hard to see is that the stimulus money is actually being taken from the competent people who are able to create jobs and is given to the incompetent who are wasting scarce resources. How many PERMANENT jobs are being lost or not created due to the fact that the competent have fewer resources than they would under a true free market? However, I agree that jobs will be created..only the Govt will be the largest employer and it is not nearly as efficient as the private sector

  • Good Job Gov Sanford

  • Good Job Gov Sanford? I guess you are from the same planet this moron comes from: Wingnuttia!

  • oh so when money is tight let's borrow and spend more. dems all believe that gov is the ultimate good. you are a stooge.

  • Bush and his conservative/liberal allies in the Senate/House spent more than $600 Billion to build schools in Iraq. But they are not able to help this little girl and her schoolmates. These young people are NO Iraqis BUT Americans!!! When will you conservatives and liberals understand that we have to invest in our own kids and stop burning money in Iraq and other hostile nations? WHEN??? It is time Ron Paul puts an end to this conservative and liberal NONSENSE!!!!!

  • Who wants to bet all the fools on here cheering on Sanford and his lame stab at being the next GOP "maverick" all have a job that is not in peril, and a home also not in peril? Hands?

  • I live in NC (a blue state now....even if just barely) just an hour from Myrtle Beach, SC. People are always asking me "Hey man, why don't you move to Myrtle Beach!"

Because I don't want to live in SC! See? Get it now?

  • We should have just let the South secede.

  • * SC with 10%+ unemployment rate. 2nd highest in the nation.

    * SC majority of poor: low income whites, blacks, and other racial minorities.

    * Sanford + his family: very wealthy family, out of touch with SC community in need of help.

    * Sanford's answer: turn away money that helps creates jobs, improves roads/schools, alleviate heath care constraints. pay down SC debt using tax payer money. (yeah, makes sense...)

Yeah, great job Sanford. You're a lock for GOP nomination. /end sarcasm

  • Sanford 2012 FTW!

  • I called Sanford and told him to KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! I wish we could send all of the monopoly money back to DC.

  • "Hey Rube!

  • Sanford is making the correct decisions here...unlike 99% of our so called "leaders"

Keep up the good work Sanford

  • Are you guys stupid? He understands the bailout money won't help.

  • "Are you guys stupid?"

No, we like to think not. Are you?

"He understands the bailout money won't help"

    Is that so?

Sanford said he is WILLING to take the money as long as he can get a SPECIAL WAIVER to use it to BAIL OUT his states DEBTS instead of for the job building programs his State Legislature has approved.

Sanford wants to reward bad State Management instead of working for his people.

  • Pay attention dogstar. Sanford wants to pay down the states debt. By doing this he will free up $80,000,000 a year for his state. Meanwhile your liberal ass is being taxed out of your home along with your illiterate children. Why are they illiterate? Because, there is no longer a reason to be a teacher. They are already underpaid, and the great "saviors" in Washington, are going to tax them as well. Where do you think the money to pay all this debt is going to come from?

  • Pay attention, yourself, buddy.

    What's with the personal abuse?

Leave my" liberal ass" and calling my children "illiterate" out of this.

I didn't call anyone names or promote a partisan position. I spoke to the issue.

Sanford needs to use the Recovery Money to bailout his state or teachers don't get paid??? Is that right?

Then that means that Gov. Sanford wasn't planning on paying teachers in the first place, doesn't it? Without the Recovery Money he didn't have a plan to pay them, correct?

  • Looks to me like Gov. Sanford is an incompetent administrator to begin with. If education is in a shambles in S.C. it would seem that he is to blame.

The Federal Recovery Plan wasn't in effect while Sandford was administering his state budget up until now, how did he plan to "pay down" his state's debts before that money was offered?

  • IF YOU WANT TO BLAME THE EDUCATION FAILURE ON THE GOVERNOR, YOU ARE THE IGNORANT ONE. THE NATIONAL EDUCATION ASSOCIATION HAS BEEN DUMBING DOWN OUR CHILDREN FOR YEARS, WHICH EXPLAINS THE NOV ELECTION! Every state has problems & what a surprise that our scores on the basics have gone down consistently since the Federal Govt has gotten involved in running local schools. The Education Dept of the Federal Govt is a scam! Wake Up!

  • YOU NEED TO START PAYING BETTER ATTENTION - THIS BAILOUT IS A RIP OFF AND IT WON'T GET US OUT OF THIS MESS. DOESN'T IT DISTURB YOU THAT IF YOU DISAGREE W/OBAMA, BAM! A COMMERCIAL TO DISCREDIT AND DESTROY YOU. You take offense at your kids being called illiterate? Did you feel bad at what the liberals did to the Palin Family, including their children? They are thugs!

  • How many sock puppets you got?

  • You are an idiot and most likely one of those liberal bloggers that can't find a job so you are on the computer all day annoying TRUE Americans.

  • Maybe it's too late for you. Let me see if I can make even simpler. 1) Take the "recovery" money, as outlined by the Federal government, and continue down the road that got us here, taxing the people you work for along the way. Teachers now get a paycheck, but there pay has been cut due to the higher taxes that the government has imposed on them. 2) Don't take the "recovery money. No worse off than you were before, right? 3) Take the money, and pay down state debt. tbc

  • Screaming in caps. Where have we seen that before?

All you goons got is personal abuse. Nothing new here.

  • What are you talking about? "you goons" you never once asked me wich side I was on. All I'm saying is that I am from South Carolina, and I can walk out my front door and see first hand what's going on. I don't pretend to know what state Chicago is in (Illinois, before I get called an idiot), so why are you pretending to know what's going on here. Don't believe everything you see on the news. BTW I'm not republican, nor democrat. I'm just someone who knows the difference between right and wrong.

  • bwhtr06,

The Federal recovery money isn't intended to be used to "bail out" poor fiscal management on the part of Gov. Sandford and his state legislators.

If the money was coming from SC state taxes, Sandford could do as he pleases with it and nobody outside your state could tell him any different.

But it's not. It's coming from the Federal Revenue. Congress has approved the money to be spent as it has directed.

Yes, I live in Illinois, but you're asking to spend MY Federal tax money.

  • I don't want any of this money, that's the problem. Nobody is listening to what we want anymore. Govenor Sanford doesn't want the money, but James Clyburn is trying to shove it down his throat, so he said if I have to take it, this is where it's going. He's trying to use the money to pay down debt that is compounding interest. If you go to a bank and take out a loan that you can't repay, is the bank going to give you another loan so you can pay off the first one? No. So how can the Government?

  • Gov. Sanfored HAS done the wrong thing in turning down the money. Doesn't he have a clue about the condition of his state!?

  • My understanding is that if the wealth of others is to be redistributed to SC then he would like to decide how to spend it. This is what state governments are for. The state is much more capable of allocating funds than the federal government. Either way, the condition of his state and this country is a result of over consumption, a lack of saving, and too much borrowing/spending...the government's solution for the economy is what? ...more borrowing and spending than ever.

  • You mean give it to the wealthy under the wealth wealfare system. You know the wealthy have their own welfare system in place. The current administration is not a jack%#$ to give the money out without restictions that is how we got in the mess in the first place. Where I live food prices are going down.
