@pushmss He was asked to Join after the Avantasia tour at the end of 2010 by Kai, however he didn't want to take over the band so Kai asked instead if he could join Unisonic, which is why Kai Hansen's in Unisonic.

I read this is in an interview a couple of months ago, I kinda wish Kiske joined Gamma Ray. :P

Just listen to older songs with hansen like: Time to break free, land of the free or The calling...His voice was perfect on those tracks... Thats sad that he couldnt sing that way on this track.

Kiske hasn't lost almost any of his power!! Just listen to him here with Avantasia: watch?v=kSvikFvKY1I (1st chorus, 2nd verse & 3rd chorus) and here solo: watch?v=nK3y_P7SwxA. Both performances are from 2008.

Just because a vocalist doesn't sing high in one song doesn't mean that he can't do it anymore. I bet that Kai told him to sing in a lower tone in this specific track and it fits the song IMO.

Gamma Ray has really hit rock bottom quality-wise nowadays. Totally uninspired songwriting and just insanely boring melodies. Keep in mind that this is coming from a Gamma Ray / Helloween-fan of 13 years. They just don't write interesting stuff anymore. It's sad.

@neurosedynekid IMO if they had teamed up, they would have gotten really big and people would have forgotten Helloween. Kiske worked with Hansen and Adrian Smith for 2 songs featured on his 1996 solo album Instant Clarity. So combine that sound with Gamma Ray's Land Of The Free and you get a picture of how the combo would have sounded like.
