what part of japan are you in? hells freezing over here in hokkaido, anyway, the fun thing about this tradition is it's really for the kids. some of them have fun and some of them get terrified. and the sushi is supposed to be eaten facing north. a lot of my church friends and i did this for the kids and it is a lot of fun even if you are a adult.

This custom was limited in KANSAI area.

I was grown up near by nagoya.

And, I lived in Kawasaki (kanagawa) when i was young.

I do not know this custom after moving to here (hyogo).
