now i got this stuck in my head and sing it all day long, my husband looks at me like...'what?' and i say 'it s the moody blues'...only these guys can do what they do to me...love justin s voice. a fan since 1967.
I actually heard this on the radio. Only once, one night in October or November 1969 on KNUS 98.7 FM out of Dallas TX. That was the "underground" station that all the "freaks" and "heads" listened to. I didn't let that stop me, though.
I love the '60s and '70s Moodies, but I had no idea they had ever done this commercial (I found it linked off the Tremeloes spot, which I still love). Sounds like about 1968 to me. Very nice!
About 1975 there was a commercial (for a wine, I think) on a Buffalo N.Y. radio station that sounded a lot like it had been done by the Moodies too. All I can remember was "R E Y".
Some comments below are quite cynical. I detest Coke myself, but what's wrong with them singing a little jingle? Best Coke commercial I've ever heard, that's for sure!!
I guess it just goes to show that bands, in the 60's and even more so now, are merely "products", and "tools" used to generate profit in any way possible. And as soon as their profitability wains... they're kicked to the curb, as quick as you can blink.
Yes, so drink that cool, refreshing, stomach-rotting, diabetes-inducing, beverage... and listen as the Moody Blues sells their souls to the devil ;)
There were a bunch of these made with many different artists in the 60's, like Otis Redding. There's actually another one by the Moody Blues that talks about relaxing and drinking a Coke. If you ever listen to Radio KYA out of Ocean Shores WA they play these old Coke ads in between songs. Its a great oldies station you can listen online that doesn't play the same old same old.
the Moody Blues cola commercial i remember is a different one from this and i believe is older- i'd never heard this one tx! another i love and am going to look for was by the fortunes; these old cola commericals were so much fun back then!
Well, it's 9 months later, I guess my baby is my love for this song. Best ever! Thank you again junkjerk. Oh! Wife is pregnant and 8 months to go. Moody if a girl, Blue if a boy? Whattaya think?
This ad also goes to show a) just how wonderfully different and unique The Moody Blues are and 2) that not every rock and roll act is a Pepsi band/singer!
Wow, this is rare@ You can track the fingerprints of this awesome band in every song they made, they have their unique style and their unique sound.5 stars!!

I actually have a version of this with a small flute solo that was most likely cut because it made it longer than a minute.

@emilyssong16 That's because it was sung by the MOODY BLUES.

I wish they did a 3 minute Coke commercial song. Or use THIS melody for a real song :-(

Well....What kind of coke? ;-)

I bet the Moodies liked to pass around a big fat one to smoke while enjoying their Cokes!

"The Moody Blues having a holiday with coke." If you think about it, that can have a different meaning.

@Screenman5
Don't worry - The Rock HOF means nothing. If it actually was a Hall of Fame, the Moodies would be there as they were HUGE.

They did three. One in 1965, one in 69 and one in 70. They also did a photo shoot of them holding coke bottles in 69, which I had and lost......
