  • I'm your number one fan...

plus I love your comments/answer/share your: thoughts to a song, describe your play, equipment you use/tune... good stuff and inspiring... thank you... i'll be following your work...

  • Hi tony it has been a while that I had the time to enjoy youtube and more particularly, you wonderful work, do I detect some special tuning or have you chosen another method of recording once again beautiful and and and and and a joy to hear something quite jazzy

  • @zinger52

thanks, zinger. no, that's standard tuning. glad you liked it.

  • great work as always.

    and, , dig that

beard you got goin on there

    XD

  • This is awesome! didn't know how you were gonna pull this off with a solo guitar but you did. Amazing!

  • Is there a backing track on this? Nice work!

  • @keydiver1

    no, all solo. thanks!

  • Marvelous!

  • Beautiful playing, just like always!

  • I really enjoy your music.....great cover of a classic.

  • Niedt does not miss a note but soundsnot Jazz at all. Your performance DO sound Jazz and feels much better than his. Great work !!

  • Tony, this video just earnd you a new subscriber.

    However, i would like ask:

    How are you tunes here?

  • @StavJazzMan

thanks buddy. that one's in standard tuning

  • Excelente trabalho. Parabéns.

  • This arrangement is great - Nice work as always!

  • your incredible

  • very nice!

    I am Japanese.

    I like this video.

    I watch this from Japan.

I wanna be play guitar like you!!

  • ok, that's it, forget marriage... just want to have sex with those fingers, while you are humming in my neck. Damn!

  • very nice, I play it almost the same way. Your voicings are little more interesting than mine. I play it a little faster and go a little more crazy with a solo but I really love your version! Great Job!

  • @chrisfostermusic

    thanks, Chris

  • very dreamy and laid back - love it !

  • hey

could you send me some tips tips to start playing this way?

    hugh_lowe@yahoo.ca

    thanks

  • This is very nice too. Seems to lay well on the guitar. Is that an AT 3035 mic? Are you feeding this directly into the computer? Is it just an acoustic sound here?

  • This is so brilliant... I love this piece of music.

  • Amazing how you keep that 5/4 rocking away. Superb.

  • @Ystadcop

    thanks

  • I love ya so much, man, you are the best, get my blood flowing and tickle me at the same time. Your guitar speaks clearly Marley. You so fine, blow my mind every time.

    Thank you, Tony ;D

  • Now that is an impressive thumbs-up to thumbs-down ratio. And well deserved at that. A funky, smooth and stylish performance of a great song.

  • absolutely wonderful! any tips or tabs for this piece would be much appreciated.

  • nice nice nice

  • dammit... i eargasmed

  • wow great playin althoug I don't like jazz^^

  • man, you are killing it. love the astrud gilberto cover too

  • FANTASTIC! Everything I've seen you play is strictly top notch! Thanks for another great video!

  • Wow. MUCH better than Douglas Niedt's performance imho.

  • beautiful.

  • This is one of my FAVORITE pieces and you do it justice! I haven't heard this in a while! 5 musical stars!

  • great job by the way, your the only one I've found to get this to swing

  • i wonder how this would sound with the rest of band???

  • Tony - are you tuning to a chord on the open strings for this Take Five?

I really like the stereo, but I think the mike is a little "hot" or boom-y. Just a little less bass would be nice.

  • nope. just standard tuning

  • yeah, you did impresse it on guitar like the feeling on piano. and so on, and so on, and so on ...

  • Aprendeu pelo ouvido.

Me empreste, alugue, ou venda essa ouvido ?

Nem que seja só por alguns dias, rsrs.

  • very cool !

  • breathtaking

  • Hi Tony. I'm having a gruelling time watching and stopping, watching and stopping this video to try and work it out and get it tabbed for myself. Slowly getting there, though. GREAT version of this - it really swings !

    Cheers , Jim

  • Hi, Jim... spent so many time in tabbing another troubleclef's masterpiece ! I did the job on his version of "love of my life".

So, pleaaaase, if you tabbed this one, may i get it ? My wife & children would thank you for that ! (& you could get my transcription for free...)

  • Comment removed

  • @jimguitarfan Hey there, Ever get that tab finished? Would love to have a look if ya did.

  • Man!! your great in playing guitar! this is Awesome!!

  • Very nice playing for this beautiful arrangement ! J.C.

  • stereo ,right?

  • Superb version, really inspiring. Reminds me the version by Acoustic Alchemy but they did it with two guitars...

    Tks a lot, my friend.

  • Muito obrigado, gknirsch pelos muitos comentarios and pela subscription.

  • Tony: Vc não tem que agradecer pois não lhe fiz qualquer elogio; apenas constatei uma verdade. Sou eu quem, ao ouvi-lo, me sinto elevado. Sua musica me leva a viajar pelo meu passado. Thanks a lot, my friend.

  • This is simply unbelievable! Just Awesome! I seriously need to find a way the download the audio to this, I'd love to have it on my iPod playlist. Great job!

  • I had no idea you did jazz chord melody too. This is amazing.

  • Really great version, quite inspired!!

In fact, I want to have a go of this myself now. :)

    Thanks

  • I checked out the Douglas Niedt version, and while it's faster, it's certainly not better. This is a much more interesting interpretation. Really like the phrasing of the Troubleclef version. Bravo...

  • I like Niedt's studio version better than the live clip here on YT. Check it out. He recorded a couple of stellar albums of non-traditional classical things like this. Those albums are "Virtuoso Visions" & "After Hours". Highly recommended.

  • wow. i had never heard this before so I was listening to some other versions too. you make it sound like it was written for guitar!

  • Dude, unreal. I'm an old salt and this was unreal (26) haha very nice.

really like your attention to detail.

  • i absoluty love this song, and i wish to learn it but i cannot find tabs =(. great job man awesome as always.

  • I'm in the same boat. I really want to play this song. But alas, no tabs. Someone hook us up please.

  • Brilliant.. It's perfect ! Bravo.

  • Kudos, simply wonderful. 10+ stars!

  • Impressive as usual! I havn't been around in awhile; I see you have a new mike. Thank you for allowing us on You Tube to enjoy your talent. Thank You!

  • thanks. it's not really a new mic, but it's more visible in this video.

  • One of my favorite standards. Amazing job my friend.

  • Holy SHIT!!!

  • Excellent !

  • Maestro, Maestro,..always the top!!

  • thanks, man. posting more soon?

  • I've loved this song my whole life. You do it so very well :-)

  • thanks a bunch

  • Wow, well done - that's a great performance of a wonderful piece of music!5*****

  • Fabulous performance Tony. Emmanuel-esque thumb control there! :)

  • haha, thanks buddy

  • That's really great! I play by ear also, it is amazing what some people can accomplish without guitar lessons.

  • Amazing job Tony!

    I do have a suggestion!

Have you ever though of writing your own interpretation of these songs that you play?

I wouldn't even think twice about buying that book, and I am sure that I wouldn't be the only one!

    Think about it!

    Later

    Eddie

  • Not only songbooks, recordings too

  • thanks, Ed. well to be fair, this isn't my arrangement. (see vid details). but I hear ya, anyway. this may come about some day.

  • As always, a pleasure to hear your interpretations and I would see you live if you were in a venue somewhere.

    Thanks Tony !

  • Tony,

This is very good. The bass on the B part is super.

    Very clean. Bravo.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • thanks, Allen. hope you post more soon.

  • I am about to record a version of Wes Montgomery's "For on Six". Stay tuned...

    Cheers,

    allen

  • A joy to listen to! Do you play live anywhere? Do you tour? Really enjoy all your videos.

  • Absolutely beautiful!! You really capture the spirit of this piece. Paul Desmond would approve.

  • you've overdone the "stereoizing," but never mind; it's lovely as always

  • Wow, you've moved to a new level! I am really liking it!! Keep it up!

  • perfect! =)

  • Superb, as always. Wonderful ambiance on the recording as well. I can't hear the low-frequency rumbling, so I guess I've got a prob with my sound-card - or my ears (old age!). Thanks again !

  • Superb!

  • stange ,i have the feeling you posted it before...Thank you for all your gifts.

  • Fantastic , I love it !

    Regards

    Daniel

  • Smooth, nice, confident and enjoyable! You make it sound and look so easy! bb

  • great troubleclef like always, this new rec is full of bass, good!

i've played this song but tune is Am, (it's much easy) ... next

  • Marvelous !!...Thank you again for giving us great joy.

  • Bellissima esecuzione...bravo

  • love it - there is a subtle hint to the song WAR (bob marley) there (2:30 - 2:35)

  • You guessed it right! You win. I didn't think it would ever be discovered. Thanks, man.

  • very subtle... (actually, I happened to have listened to Zimbabwe & War...a few days ago)

I've just recorded two more tunes-- so stay tuned... for the posts.

  • yet another great piece from the master of guitars ;) stay tuned, man, you RULE !!!

    greez

  • Makes me wish I'd practiced harder as a kid. You are a delight!

  • One of the best ones so far I 've seen !!

  • i appreciate it.

  • Very Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you so much for yet another fine piece. For those of us who are interested in seeing your fingerings, this was an excellent camera angle. Thanks again.

  • thanks. glad you could see it.

  • wow, super nice!

  • awesome! no doubt about it! Very nicely done!

  • Brilliant as always, Troubleclef!

  • Thanks for sharing, very inspiring.

  • Excellent as always, well played man. Have you changed your mic? I see the condenser there, sounds like maybe it's picking up a little too much room sound. Was that your issue? If so, no apologies needed my friend, always better to hear a great player with less than brilliant sound, than the opposite. Thanks for sharing!

  • it does pick up a lot of room, but what realy bugs me is the low frequency rumbling that i can't seem to equalize out of my clips and that only shows up on the youtube version of the clip (source clip sounds *better* --although not great either). thanks

  • shit, man..

  • super...thx

  • brilliant! From the start till the end! 5* + fav

  • Hi Tony are u a big reader or is that your record collection the back ground...

    Lynn From Scotland

  • just a small part of my cd collection (yes, i have a problem). Oh, and my book collection is enormous too. :D

  • Excellent as always. Thanks!

I would go back to your old microphone or deaden the room some.

  • My fingers hurt! Very nicely done. Oddly, another guitarist I follow on YouTube, Jazzguts, posted T5 at the same time. Must be in the air. Thanks so much for sharing.

    Peace

  • Sounds great!!! LOVE the "War" interlude, fits right in there with the rhythm...Bob would be honored. Anticipating your next endeavor. Cheers!

  • Great work...I like your version as much as I like the original Brubeck/Desmond classic. Great work, as usual. And thanks for posting.

  • Cover of one of my favorites. Amazing as usual!

  • perfect. as usual

  • wonderful

  • Just a wild guess - are you paying tribute to MJ and playing a snippet 'Billie Jean' there in the middle? Either way, awesome stuff.

  • good guess and does sound a little like it, but no. user 'nomusician' guessed it right. it's Bob Marley's "War"

  • Awsome as always! ;) 5*

  • This was amazing.

  • Excellent rendition - keep 'em coming.

  • This is a wonderfull rendition of one of my all-time favourites!! 5***** Greetings and much respect, Bram D., Holland

  • thanks Bram

  • Maestro. It is a very nice pleasure to hear his guitar to vibrate.

You are a master. Worthy of applause and high esteem

    CONGRATULATIONS!

    Thank you, maestro.

  • Wonderful as usual Tony...hope all is well.

  • smooth as silk.

  • Brilliant, as always.

I think the Brubeck mood is captured nicely. Niedt's version is awesome, but a bit too frenetic, for me anyway :-).

  • he does come across a bit too frenetically (?) in that youtube video. the album track is more relaxed. and that's a great album he recorded that on (called "after hours" if you can find it)

  • Tony, I wouldn't be surprised if the younger set tell you that the middle sounds like the Mario games....

  • Haha, nope that's not it either. But heck those games have been around since i was young! ...a long time ago in a galaxy far away. :D

  • ONCE AGAIN VERY NICE. PAUL

  • Very nice. You make it sound so easy.

  • Very nice. I do that kind of finger muting too, but for me it is an almost unconscious thing, just to damp off the strings on the beat. Very nice arrangement.

  • Yeah, i don't really notice myself doing it. it just helps bounce the beat along, i guess.

  • Brilliant, up to my favs

    Greetings from germany

    Werner

  • good guess, but that's not it. (now i'm trying to think of what yes song it *sounds* like)

  • great sound too

  • that was so sick...i can barely play the lead part and this guys playing the melody accompaniment too. bravo.

  • Wow......Love what you did to this song,

    Thanks for posting it.

  • Are you trying to play the bridge of Everything's Alright in the middle?

  • nope that's not it.

  • This song is hard to play on the Sax... only wish I could play this great arrangement on the guitar

  • Nicely played!

  • awesome arrangement

  • Beautiful! What a fantastic cover!

  • wHOA! I remember this song from when I was a little kid! My parents used to play it all the time. Great rendition! 5 stars.

  • What a class you have! I don't know how you do it but you always have an amazing tune awaiting on your head to amaze us.

Being a guitar player myself I really admire your covers, hope to play like that some day.

  • thanks so much. glad you liked it.

  • sounds very nice, good job

    Michael

  • I'll try to find an Ivan song for arranging. "cartomante" maybe?

  • Yeah!!! Is a great choice! would be a pleasure to hear all his talent playing Ivan Lins! Greetings from an admirer of Volta Redonda /Brazil
