Hey zantam..It was WRITTEN by Sonny Curtis...an original Cricket, NOT Bobby Fuller. YOU go do your homework...dumbass. The Crickets recorded it at least a year before Bobby Fuller. Also, the correct spelling is "BY the way..not "BUY the way" "buy" indicates you are purchasing something. Now..off to school with ya. Run along!
Normally i dont usually dig covers, especially when some one covers a song like this or ring of fire... but damnit everything Ness touches is fucking golden.
Like Cash did with Hurt...I think Ness made this song his own. It just feels right with him singin' it. Theres alot of experience in that rahspie voice box of his.
This CD is real HTF, it went OOP right away due to poor sales, it's a huge underground CD and it's great cover to cover (get it?). Look on eBay, it's called "Mike Ness, Under the Influences" and it was put out by Mike's TIME BOMB label in 1999, I still listen to this entire album, it's awesome. Other great covers include: All I can do is cry, BIG IRON, Six more miles, Once a day, House of Gold, Wildwood Flower, and he also does a real cool Honky Tonk version of Ball and Chain. GO FIND IT!!
Just recently found out it was the Dead Kennedy's who did the cover but people, like me for example seem to get it confused with a Sex "Shitstols" (as you put it)version that never was.
its just that the clash maked this song famous but this is a nice song of sonny but i like the joe strummer more so i think you are right:P but everyone has an opinion, tajke a second think about it
This is decent but doesn't touch the Clash (I say this even tho Soc D are my third favorite band after the Ramones and Misfits). But one thing mikeblackkills, where did you ever hear that the Pistols did this song? I don't believe that is true...
buddy holly was dead by the time this song was written. it was originally done by the bobby fuller four and that's probably who you are thinking of. bobby fuller also died very young and under mysterious circumstances.
zachnaustin why do you call someone a dumbass for not realizing the crickets recorded it first?i bet you looked it up on wikipedia just like i did.go ask 1000 people who origionally recorded that song.i bet 999 say bobby fuller.your the dumbass for making a statement like that.
how so? is it because im tired of people who think they know it all and think that bobby fuller actually did record this song first? i just hate when people are so full of themselves and dont even bother to get the correct information
I absolutely love this song.
