He deserved the Brownlow last year. Judd played well, and was obviously one of the best in the comp as he always is, but there were two rounds he got 3 votes when he didn't deserve any, and at least one game where Ablett was clearly best on ground and got none.

Yes, Judd's a genuine champion, and in his prime he was incredible (and still is) but the depth of skill Gary Ablett Jnr has at his best is frightening. He is unstoppable. i have been a crows fan since i was a child and i love the game and my team 2 death, but every time i see ablett play even when its against my team i cant help but feel inspired by him, he is a legend of the game, an imortal and im yet 2 see a better player.

It might just be a slight change of direction, that he will do time and time again, that a player like Judd or Riewoldt doesnt do, that makes the big difference between a stoppage, and him handpassing the ball off. Every single time he touches it, he uses it well.

geelong has an aging list with a few exceptions they will have to play some rookies and some young raw talent which will create turn overs and say gary ablett becomes a team player he will give it off to a rookie who will get into making a mistake and the ball is down the other end

I think offensively, he is insanely good, but I've noticed that he is quite ordinary with his defensive game - when was the last time you saw him chase someone down or lay a bone-crunching tackle?

to try and compare Hird, Watson or Harvey to either of the Abletts is laughable. Herd is probably the best of the 3 you mentioned and I watched Ablett snr kick 14 goals on him one day. There have been a lot of greats but none like the Abletts.

This sends shivers down my spine every time I see it! Amazing player! Now he has the brownlow! All though I rate the MVP award higher. Hopefully this weekend he can top it off with a Norm Smith and another Granny! Guys, please, he makes Judd look silly when he is at his best. Wish I was around to appreciate his old man a little more. Junior better have some kids one day, who knows how good they will be! :D

Of course Gary Jnr can be compared to Gary Snr. Junior could very well be the best player of the last decade. I think Snr was the best ever but Jnr can most definitely be compared to him.

.the senior Ablett had only three or four stars to support him, like Couch, Hocking, Stoneham..after that it thinned out very quickly..junior has Chapman, Corey, Bartel, Selwood, Ottens, Ling, etc etc. to support him as he acknowledged last night..I was lucky to see senior play 80 -90 games and he is the best I have seen, but as Cats supporters we are so lucky to have junior in this mighty team.

Are you kidding me? Need I remind you of the fact that Snr played in 4 grand finals within 7 years. Clearly it takes a hell of a good side with a hell of a lot of good players, stars even, to be able to produce that sort of level of football over that period of time. You have neglected to mention the likes of Brownless, Bairstow, Bews, Hinkley, Mansfield, Colbert etc etc

Sorry..I neglected to mention Hinkley and Bews, very good players ..Billy and Mark Bairstow could be inconsistent. Mansfield is okay and please don't mention the other fellow who turned his back on the club..all the same I stick by my comment,,the current side has been so consistent on every goal to goal line for the last year and the Geelong of the Ablett snr. era wasn't...two brownlow medallists in 3 years and a possible 2 from 3 on Saturday bears testament to that.

Hird, definately. I put Ablett Sr, Hird and Carey as the best 3 i have seen (live). Those three were head and shoulders above others. Watson was soft, and I can't believe you mentioned harvey ahead of Danaher....

I'm Bombers from birth, and I think Hird was overrated simply from a consistency point of view. I rate Fletcher higher than Hird.
Best player ever is Gary Ablett Snr. Carey was great. Judd is great. GAblett Jnr is the best playing today, and thank FUCK he finally got his Brownlow because he's been the best and fairest in the comp the last 2 years no question.

watch around 5:15 he actually runs backwards for 5 mtrs then evades a tackle, seen him do that against Nth Melb but that time was against 2 opponents and was back for 5 mtrs then to the left cause they had him on the boundry line the entire time

His dad is the best I've ever seen and was lucky enough to see him play around 100 games....The consensus when Junior started was that if he ever was as half as good as his father he'd be great value but he has gone way past that now and closing in on 'pater ablett'...three MVP's in a row..maybe that elusive Brownlow is a couple of weeks away.
