No matter how many times I hear him sing this song, recorded or live, I get chills and tears. Luther Vandross did something to me the day I heard this song for the first time. I think I was 12 and it was the wedding dance song at my cousins wedding. I had goosebumps and I just cried for no reason other than this is the most powerful voice to ever have been in existance. I have been in love with the man and voice ever since. How I miss him. thank you for sharing.

Absolutely chillingly beautiful. What a pleasure to hear this again in 2012. Am I right in saying his voice will never grow old? I also regretfully never got to see Luther live. Life keeps some of us working all the time. But I listened to him all the time. Hard to explain but his voice gives you comfort and chills at the same time. So smooth, strong, sweet, elegant, and sexy with class. Love & miss you Luther. You were the man while your voice lives on forever.

I was so lucky to see Luther 5 or 6 times in the late 90's/early 2000's.. I had PIT seats at Radio City in 2001 I believe. I would watch him sing and was always amazed at how effortless it was... This is spot on. His Superstar and House Is Not A Home both would run close to 15 minutes. Just amazing. I wish we had a DVD of his Radio City performance.

I like this. My one regret was being too young to really ever get a chance to see Luther live. But..I heard he sounded just like this- (atleast that's what my mother used to say, when she came back from one of his shows- in those ugly black stockings and horrible gold shoes. Don't act like you didn't have any.) Ha.Ha..Perhaps a Youngin' on this board.. But, 'I love his music.. I really do.'

If only we could see HIM live! Still, this is the most beautiful piece I ever heard Luther sing, apart from Home and loads of his other material. Seems like G-d gave him life for no other reason but to sing, and to reach us with his voice. His voice was so soulful, but I think his soul couldn't evolve by itself, that's why he left us so early. We need to see him working that mic, can you get us that dude? Thanks a mili all the same.

Now personally for me, the best version of "Superstar" live was done in 1991 tour with Luther & the sounds of blackness when they came to the Los Angeles Sports Arena.... that man sung that song for 22 minutes and I'm still trying to get my hands on that copy.

This is the only singer ever that can take a classic or any song and make it sound better than the original version and artist who originated it. He said in an interveiw he takes any song and Lutherize it that's why it sounds so good. Can I get a copy too?

Wow...wow....WOW.....this brought tears to my eyes. As a singer, Luther was THE ONLY one I admired as a male vocalist. His simplicity, and range, smoothness, and the ability to project the emotions of a song just comes through on this one. I also remember taking my 7 year old son to his concert, he was in complete awe! On the edge of his seat for every song, and when Luther sang this, my son was so amazed and it was and still is his favorite Luther tune. Thank for posting.
