man, i think that if you get the 'phone up to an inch above beltline, you will discover a whole new world of amazingly user-friendly angles of attack, which will in turn expand your tonal pallette exponentially (translation: raise your instrument about 3 inches, dude....i think that you will be pleasantly surprised) a 42
Cool, most children's books have xylophones listed for the letter x, so I searched for a video that would show my 2 year old what one really looks like. Thanks for posting. It sounded great (he asked if we could do it again :)
Skilled players can read and play at same time, by use of kinesthetics, which is muscle memory. It's very hard but after years of practice it should come naturally. I can't really sightread like some people can, and usually when I learn a piece it's automatically memorized so I don't try to read it at the same time.
when learning it is very difficult to look at the music while playing. thats why percussionist memorize music so well, because we do from when we start playing. this isn't really a good thing and it takes a fair few years to trust your hands and keep your eyes on the music while playing.
The sound of the auditorium and the sound of this particular xylophone are just right... what's the make and model? Of course, you did a great job as well.
Again, excellent work. I've learned and perfected [and by that I mean not actually perfect, but you get my meaning] Log Cabin Blues. I'll post the video when I perform!
Great Job!
p.s. I still can't play quite that fast, as I am only a Sophomore in High School. =P
(cont.) I know you are at the mercy of playing on whatever instrument "they" provide. But if you like playing it lower, hey, I'll just shut up-everyone has their own style. One minor thing, avoid wearing a tie like that when doing mallet work. They like to hang in the way and lay on the keys. Keep up the good work!
Hey great job.Nice stick control with great dynamics. I love the sound of those mallets. One little bit of advice, it may just be the angle of the camera but the xylo. seems to be a little low for you.You may want to set it on some blocks.
Just love that xylophone sound xD i really wish i could play one, i might buy one, the day i have enough spare money xD 'cos i know i'd never take it seirously, but it'd be great to just have and mess about on lol, well done though, great playing
I like your vid clip and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out my video clip of some very rare 1934 tobacco cards of old and ethnic musical instruments.
