the tune is by gilles chabonet, who is still very much alive & playing hurdy gurdy ( vielle) - it was written as 3 time bourree ( 3/8 ) and is great to dance that to - and then adapted as a mazurka ... where you can get the spring into the chicken, if you play it old bal musette style! but its a groovey slinkey dance too.
nicely played here, i must agree. x
& nice sounding whistle I shall look to acquire something similar myself!
It's a funny thing, for about a year, I thought this was an old Britanny tune hundreds of years old (that's what I'd heard anyway). It had been released on a few albums but the bands though it was public domain so didn't put down who wrote it. Then I heard the story about the guy who wrote it showing up and was like "Hey! You stole my tune!" LOL Just goes to show, just because something SOUNDS old, doesn't mean it IS old. :-)
Keep working on this one, worthy of your efforts. R~

Thanks :) it is a great tune I think as well. I am playing it on a Dixon Low D. A great whistle if your not wanting to spend $500+

Very nice, very pleasant. I know this tune from somewhere but don't know where from. It's not quite Irish, is it?

Sorry for the stupid question, I didn't read your description before I asked it.

it is an old breton tune (Bretagne/France) - some kind of bouree or mazurka.
