I bet you can comp well just by your feel. You got it. Transcribing by ear opens those passages up in your head that reading charts can't. Kids today are missing out on the process of slowing down a tape to half speed to learn a phrase. I still use a Panasonic RR-930 dictation machine to transcribe with. It's back space control will rewind the tape to any length up to 10 seconds every time you hit the foot switch. It'll play 1/2 speed, but if you want same pitch just shift it on computer 1st.

I just got a vox jaguar yesterday and I was wondering if the mellow was suppost to be way quiter than the rest of the switches.

Mellow sorta takes out all the hi end of all the other voices. I dont really use the mellow switch by itself. I use it to give the other voices a more hammondish sound. But it does sound alot quiter than the other voices because it dont cut through as much.
