Okay, first of all...that principal is kinda hot. Secondly, highschool in the states looks brutal. No sweatpants, no touching at dances, no ordering food no smoking? Hell, we had a designated smoking area, I could order a pizza at lunch if I wanted or leave school and pick it up. Sorry to reply to a two month-old comment, but the schools have to be brutal because parents look to these institutions to do their parenting for them.

That is unless, of course, the school mentions birth control, homosexuality or evolution, and then the schools are "doing too much" and parents get outraged and demand that the schools do everything exactly the way they want -- again, so schools can parent for them.

I think overall mankind is great, but I hate people.

The parents to rely HEAVILY on schools to do their parenting for them and ITA with your comment about sexuality, birth control/sex ed and evolution (although it's not so bad up here in Canada). If we're really honest, schools have just become extended daycare for children (of all ages).

i live in new milford. our town is one mile by half a mile. There are at least 5 bagel stores in our town, and 10 within a mile of our high school. Bagels=breakfast,lunch,dinner.

BUT they sell bagels at our school in the morning and at all lunch periods.

you don't think? what are you basing this on? where i am the base is 29-34 grand a year to start, full benefits, great holidays. that is pretty good for a 22 year old starting out. it is on a scale basis...so the the longer you are in, the more you get. i know teachers who make upwards of 65-70 and principals of HS more, so i don't know where you get your info. i can confirm mine without a doubt. also, full benefits and a good pension are a great thing. i know in the UK it is bad pay

I'm basing it on the fact that both of my parents are high school teachers, in Ontario, Canada.

Sure the benefits are nice, such as the summer holidays, but pensions are quickly dwindling and the payroll hasn't kept up with inflation and the rising cost of living.

Not to mention it's tough dealing with the politicians who make teachers out to be the villains for wanting to earn decent wages.

that is so odd because i have friends who are high school teachers in Ontario Canada and have young kids and they make great money and are quite happy with it, and having summers offers, i think US teachers make 19 thousand a year and in UK around £11,000

I suppose it depends what you think good money is. I think teachers who teach younger kids should make better money too as they mold our kids. anyway... i guess we disagree, no prob. :)
