When I think of Patti LaBelle as Adele Wayne I don't think of her as a glamourous,sexy, volumptuous superstar who's voice can reach a five octave range but think of her as a typical mom (O.K. African-American mom-I ain't tryin' to play the race card people so chill) worried about her baby and his choice for a woman to marry. I'm so glad they stayed with Patti LaBelle as Adele Wayne though they could have chose someone different to play Whitley's Mama preferably Diana Ross or Daphne Reid

I love this episode, Patti Labelle as Dwayne Wayne's mother is classic. The way she reacts to Whitley when they first meet is priceless. You could definitely see mamma wayne coming to the rescue. MUCH LOVE TO ADW.

Pattie LaBelle as Dwayne's mother and Dihann Carroll as Whitley's mother were both excellent casting choices! I am so glad the show stuck with them for the entire run of the show. The Thanksgiving episode where they were fighting in the kitchen was pitch perfect.
