  • It's too bad he fried his voice just a couple of years after this. He simply 'had' the coolest voice ever.

  • Music can be stripped down to it's bare essentials, in this case, a voice and a guitar, with nothing backing it up and sound awesome-no autotune, stupid dancers or costume changes; just a great song peformed by a great singer.

  • POWERFULL

  • You know the warm, creepy-crawly feeling all over your scalp, when somethin' hits home...? What a voice, what a range and what a great performance. Sting is King. :-)

  • 2:47 he looks like Kurt Cobain... kinda.... Don't ya think? ^__^

But I love his voice... sooooo amazing!

  • throat chakra in action

  • My favorite voice of all time

  • GOLDEN

  • the performance everyone raved about back in the day, stole the show.

  • love love love this performance

  • Chilling! The ending is red hot intense. Sing it Sting.

  • How's THAT for a kick-ass finish, folks?

  • This is Sting at the hight of his powers! No way he sings like this today. Those high notes he's hitting are in the stratosphere!! Also his version of "Message In A Bottle" from this show is haunting as well, but this performance cemented Sting as a monster talent with no equal, at the time. The Police were rockin', Sting was soaring in the vocal stratosphere, and Stewart & Andy where the best at what they do. A great time to be alive!!!

  • This is still the best version I ever saw and heard from him / Police! He's an outstanding artist! When I saw this at the first time it shivered down my back and got tears in my eyes! Unbelievable this voice. Tried my best to do it in that way, but now that I hear it again, I must recognize: NO WAY EVER! This man is unreachable!

  • Ima 44 yr old with 2 kids who doesnt particularly like the police but i seen the secret policemans ball at the state theatre, sydney in 80whatever with a mate and was blown away by it. I been carrying this round forever and never seen it again til now. I almost choked up, no I lie there was a tear but I think it was for mi yute, bondi, vaucluse high, good and high times. Ima softcock. Hey Tillo.

  • este video es para escuchar en silencio y apreciar la hermosa voz de sting

  • vote up if u hoped its better that last version u saw :)

  • vote up if u hoped its better that last version u say :)

  • por dios que groso!!! por dios!!! que grosoooooooooooo!!!!

  • This movie was the first time I heard "Roxanne." I got the album and loved The Police, but it never got better than this! Thanks for posting!

  • Never been a more incredible singer. Just a one of a kind voice. Jon Anderson from Yes was close, but for my money this voice is as good as it gets.

Just fucking thrilling to listen to.

  • we all got stung............

  • That. Is. One. Badass. Fcking. Vocal. Range.

  • This is what it's all about. Music, playing live. This performance is it.

  • Wow, at that time he was about 29 or 30 years old; he looked so young, when I watched the video I thought he was about 25.

  • If that mic didn't have that echo, this would be even better.

  • @beanboyo Not sure if it's the mic, or the acoustics in the venue.........

  • wow!

  • Im so jelously proud of being able to come here when Im in the mood and hear what is arguably one of the greatestl ive performances of the 1980's Its a big call but then again its a fucking BIG performance.

  • love it.

  • He has the most sexiest voice!

  • chilling vocals. so unique.

  • damn those high notes with that intensity:-) We love them very much. No other singer could do this!!

  • magic.

  • The end of the song brought me to tears when I first heard it. That was the beginning of my love affair with suspended chords.

  • which CD has this ?

  • Brilliant. Not many can sing so flawlessly in such a high pitch still keeping a powerful voice. Yes, I think this was Sting at his best as a singer.

  • WARNING: here's another trick! mp3difyit is nothing but SPAM!! ...DON"T do it!

  • OMG what a voice!

This should have 10,000,000 views just like Lady Gaga and the rest of today's "singers".

  • This is all what is music is about, for me best version ever

  • This particular solo version just blows my mind; the vocal performance is awsome.

  • me acuerdo que escuchaba esta version y message el 81, nunca me pude comprar el cassette en la casa eduardo en quintero............y aqui estan en video, lindo recuerdo

  • He is soooo sexy and sings great!

  • I remember seeing this movie. His performance was so raw and powerful. I remember thinking, "He's better than the rest of the Police."

I didn't want to see them break up, but I suppose I saw it coming. His solo style was very different than the stuff he did with the band.

  • AMAZING voice, sooo fantastic 5/5

  • lisamj: I thought the same thing the first time I saw this film in London in '82. just somethin' about the guitar...and sting..

  • @missteedub hell yeah baby. OMG yes. i swear i am not kidding, there is something so primal and sexy about his voice always but in this performance, it's just so incredible....yay i found another Police and sting fan....i love his voice. it's so unique. and FYI i see him in NYC and in person he's JUST as sexy. that man is in great shape. again, he makes me feel sexual. sting has that vibe, if you ask me, whether he's singing or not, he just oozes a sex appeal.

  • i saw The Police live at MSG in NYC on Halloween night and it was THE best concert i think i've ever been to. i just had to add that. i mean hearing them live? wow, just blows your mind!

  • totally perfect. something about it makes me horny. his voice and phrasing at 0:47 makes me just WANT it all night.

  • Know just what you mean :D

  • heard he used to be an english teacher, great job

  • @guybyguyby Primary school teacher, not just English. You should read his autobiography "Broken Music" hell of a read.

  • I love this particular performance, he is just simple, and expressive, his voice really is the main focus of this song, unlike some of the other songs which focus more on mainstream sounds.

  • @ellenfelon123 Me too, i always remember this performance when I hear Roxanne - he has a great voice here

  • What I've always liked about Sting, is his expressiveness.

Many of his critics are too involved in what he is NOT trying to do with his music, than what he IS doing with it.

I like this version because he is exposed and he still comes through.

Big props to a genuine artist!

    Thanks for this post!

  • 何かの神話に出てくる神の声みたい

  • I remember seeing Sting at the Greek Theater in LA and of course he did a great version of this song.

  • GOOD ASS

  • from when sting was at his best. no need for anything else, his voice was an instrument in its self. brilliant

  • this is by far the best version of this song i`ve ever heard. just sting and a guitar simplicity is allmost allway better.

  • I think this concert is superb. I listened and understood all the words and their real meaning for the first time, just simple and beautiful.

  • It's the best live performance I've ever seen. Real legend <3

  • Man he picks with his fingers again in this vid, I am so learning how to do that.

  • perfect

  • beautiful :)
