The Khilafat Movement was spearheaded by the Jauhar Brothers and Mr Gandhi. Vast number of our ancestors took to the streets for a drunken Turkish Khalif, languishing in his harem. Quaid-a-azam did not join the movement, eventually the Turks led by Attaturk booted out the Khalifa, the movement ended in humiliation.

The division of Darul Islam and Darul harb was done by the ulama, not by the Qur'an or by the Prophet. In fact India was never declared Darul Harb and Deoband ulama declared it Darul Harb only during Khilafat agitation. The Ulama urged upon Muslims to migrate from India to Afghanistan, Thousands of Muslims took the advice as a word of God; they resigned their jobs, sold all their belongings and headed towards the Afghan Border.
They were not allowed to cross into Afghanistan a Muslim country by the afghan Muslim rulers and had to return to nothing but to start afresh. Thousands others perished while trying to flee to Central Asian region. Remember after independence the only country to oppose our membership in the United Nations was Afghanistan.

I agree there was a single ummah during the holy prophets time, but what was the total number? During fateh Mecca the number is around 10,000 (men) and when the holy prophet passes away it was what 100,000? (I dont know exactly) and 99% were probably Arabs.
Today the Muslim population is supposed to be 1.6 billions (different races and nationalities) and we dont have the holy prophet among us, nor do we have the Sahabas to guide us and there are dozens of versions of Islam and its interpretation. A united ummah is a desire not supported by the ground reality. The only way we can live peacefully is to respect the beliefs of others.
At present we are facing energy crises, economic crises, terrorism etc. It would be wise to first worry about our own issue before worrying about the entire ummah. We keep on mentioning the ideal state of Medina which existed 1431 years ago. We must follow the ethical values of that state and those commanded in the holy book. How ever times have changed, we have to also deal with the complexities, new requirements and challenges of the 21st century and the solution to the changing times is not in the hands of the Mullahs, they have taken Afghanistan into the Stone Age and they want to do the same to Pakistan.

It is modern scientific education which can better prepare us to compete and survive in todays world. I have studied in England and have lived in the U.S for some time. I am not a fan of western way of life and I preferred to come back and live in Pakistan. it was all planned.....the proof of that is how he banned traditional Islamic clothing including Hijab from turkey, he latinized the turkish alphabet forever severing their ties to the language of the Quran. The ottomans were Turks, The Arab Revolted against them in 1916 and turned the tide against them at the Middle Eastern front where they initially seemed to have the upper hand. The Khilafat Movement was spearheaded by the Jauhar Brothers and Mr Gandhi. Vast number of our ancestors took to the streets for a drunken Turkish Khalif, languishing in his harem. Quaid-a-azam did not join the movement, eventually the Turks led by Attaturk booted out the Khalifa, the movement ended in humiliation.

The division of Darul Islam and Darul harb was done by the ulama, not by the Qur'an or by the Prophet. In fact India was never declared Darul Harb and Deoband ulama declared it Darul Harb only during Khilafat agitation. The Ulama urged upon Muslims to migrate from India to Afghanistan, Thousands of Muslims took the advice as a word of God; they resigned their jobs, sold all their belongings and headed towards the Afghan Border.

I agree there was a single ummah during the holy prophets time, but what was the total number? During fateh Mecca the number is around 10,000 (men) and when the holy prophet passes away it was what 100,000? (I dont know exactly) and 99% were probably Arabs.

Today the Muslim population is supposed to be 1.6 billions (different races and nationalities) and we dont have the holy prophet among us, nor do we have the Sahabas to guide us and there are dozens of versions of Islam and its interpretation. A united ummah is a desire not supported by the ground reality. The only way we can live peacefully is to respect the beliefs of others.

At present we are facing energy crises, economic crises, terrorism etc. It would be wise to first worry about our own issue before worrying about the entire ummah. Yesterday there was a suicide attack on 10th muharram procession at Karachi and in reaction more then 5 billion Rs worth of damage to public property, now should we be worrying about say Chechnya or Iraq when our own house is on fire, I do care about injustices around the world but my friend charity begin at home.
