Oddly enough My group in Economics has chosen Microchip implementation as our course study. (and before u jump to another conclusion I am a retired - 20yr- SFC of the US Army, not a teenager).
The implant is not designed to store information. The chip stores a code which is then translated by software. I actually bought 1 on ebay for our presentation, cost $3. This chip is just an RFID tag. Same as your Car key FOB or toll tag.

It is amazing how the right winger's always want to blame President Obama for our society's failures. I recall the mandatory HVP immunization the medical field tried to impose on women. But more importantly it is a passive system. The implant does NOT TRANSMIT. The transmitter is the "Reader". Now if you have an ePassport, suggest you look at the posted vids here on youtube.
