I use F as it is near my left hand controls, any key works though. Some like shift left click.

After Oni, controlling him independently is useful for smokeflash + firebreath. After playing with it enough you will learn his position for firebreath. Everything MM pets do is based off their location in relation to enemies.

Also I don't recomend giving the Genin the 32 upgrade, the Kb from crane lowers your overall DPS

Learn the binds soon, until oni all you need is /bind f goto all passive , then order attack when they are standing next to the enemy.
