Marion Ladewig appeared as a contestant on What's My Line on Jan. 12, 1964. I looked for it here on YouTube, but it doesn't seem anyone has posted it. I have it on tape & can post it if anyone is interersted.
1 year ago 21 out of 32 games over 200 wouldn't even cash these days - how times have changed!!!
rstp354 1 year ago ----Get a clue- 21 out of 32 in 1952 is the equivalent of 31-32 today. Conditions were NO where near what they are today. These old timers would be very competitive today and maybe moreso with the equipment and lane conditions-no doubt. Accuracy was a must. Not crossing over 30 boards with a pearl reactive ball.
Bill Taylor is SO right! Lighter pins, springier sideboards, equipment that remedies any lack of skill imaginable... and WHY is bowling languishing these days? Not hard to tell.
Watching Marion makes me wonder why we all kill ourselves trying to hook the ball. She seems to be doing very well with a relatively straight ball pointed at the pocket . And now I know how to pronounce Sylvia Wene's name!
Thanks, Randy. This stuff is pure gold and we appreciate what you do.
i have never been bowling , i want to try this ~

I'm glad you posted this... Marion was my grandmother's niece and she would mention her once in a while.. Now I can put a face to the name.

Amazing...she would have been runner-up against the men. The greatest womens bowler ever.

I too have been an avid supporter of what Mr. Taylor has been saying. It's unfortunate that the powers at be were completely blind, deaf, and dumb.
