  • @bigkingbud

100% agree, this tune & shetland pony blues are IMO the best sonhouse tunes, as you said " pluck a delta blues rhythm that tight & funky while slidn allover it & singin on a different time signature than his slide"

too true mate, at least there are a few people left in the world that listen to this music, all my mates dont know of sonhouse, skip james or roberth johnson, its a sad shame more people dont listen to delta blues

  • the blues aint nothin but a good man feelin bad thinkin bout the woman he once had

  • ...wow, loss for words... stunning!

  • Wow! Thought I had heard all the Son House pieces. Awesome. First two verses never heard before anywhere. I have often thought that, if there is a heaven, and I should somehow end up there, I would like to meet Son House and Charlie Patton. John Dudley was another one. Thank you for posting.

  • @henningvontreskow Blind Lemon Jefferson and Skip James too.

  • Magnificent !

  • amazing...i thank you so much

  • Let me get you. Is this song recorded with Charley Patton...?

  • Nope it's just Son playing individually, but Charley did record at the same session (including Moon Going Down and Bird Nest Bound) after travelling up from Mississippi together.

  • Wonderful!!!!

  • Nice not heard this version before. Got a version posted on my channel from his "Library Of Congress" Lp.

  • Yeah this was Son's original version from way back in 1930, recorded at that famous Paramount session with Charley Patton, Willie Brown and Louise Johnson.

  • wow, i thought only three son house sides were recovered from that session! how did you obtain this? are there more songs from 1930 besides my black mama, preachin' the blues and dry spell blues (and this one)?

  • Thanks for the comment! Son recorded 9 songs at that session as far as I'm aware - My Black Mama Pts 1 & 2, Dry Spell Blues Pts 1 & 2, Preachin Blues Pts 1 & 2, Walkin' Blues, Mississippi County Farm Blues and Clarksdale Moan. The last two were discovered by chance in 2004, luckily for us!

  • hi, someone got onto my youtube account and made that comment, ummmm yea i dunno how but sorry about that!

  • ?................

  • Wow, you just blew my mind...

    I can't believe it !

I have that "SON HOUSE & THE GREAT DELTA BLUES SINGERS" CD on Document, and of course thought that was all there was (from the early days).

This is a great performance !
