It is disturbing that so many scholars and Imams contest the below, word for word extract from the Quran with ridiculous arguments. Surah 2, Section 8, verse 62.

“Those who believe in

And those who follow the Jewish

And the Christians and the Sabians Any who believe in Allah

And the Last Day

And work righteousness

Shall have their reward

With their Lord on them, Shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.”

Anyone else get that instruction that they are to follow all preceding religions

Islam = Way of Life through Allah, therefore if a Jewish or Christian follows the rules they are living in the light of God. This verse clearly makes a distinction between people of faith (Muslims) and Christians and Jews.

@VoyageIslam The answer to this is simple.  Mohamed was a Prophet for the Arabs who were living by Pagan beliefs. Mohamed learned the Word of God through Christian missionaries although the Christian missionaries were not Arab therefore there was a rebirth of living principles for the Arabs, ie Muslim Religion was formed based on Christian teachings.

@VoyageIslam ... As the writer knew that converting to Christianity would be problematic in converting their own people to the Religion of others they formed their own Religion.

Islam = Living by Gods Laws and that includes the teachings of all Prophets in Judaism and Christianity. The writer knew that by befriending people that were of a difference race and religion if would distract the Arabs from reform within their own race.

Take not the Jews And the Christians For your friends and protectors To each other, And he Amongst you that turns to them (For friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not A people unjust.

In a nut shell the guide is for the person, not to turn to other people for advice and stay within ones own family/environment. ie, dont go to strangers, the answer is right by your side.
