I'll use this chance to ask, what is the best server to start playing on, I'll play on retail for the first time, but I have an experience, and what class are the most needed? I'm speaking about Cata..
@B3l1Cool Best realm is a realm where your friends play. If you don't have any friends you know who play WoW then you should search forums to find a friendly guild who is recruiting, and speak to them about you possibly joining. The most needed classes are always Tanks first, then Healers, then DPS. But make sure you play what you enjoy and find friends to play with, otherwise it is boring.
@got2nesa Yep, I completely agree with you,the main problem is that a lot of my friends plays on a private server, and some of my friends play on Dentarg, which is ( as people said ) really bad for pvp, and there are like 90% horde 10 or less ally's.. :/ What will you roll for cata and why.. Warlock/mage or warrior?
@TheWazzen I started playing again after 3 months, I xfered my paladin and am playing that now as Holy.
Blood/Unholy are personal preference... but you should spec for one or the other. I prefer blood's healing and high dmg over unholy's speed. But if you want your Gargoyle to do extra damage, then switch to unholy before summoning it...
As for frost, against Warriors/Rogues I usually sit in frost presence, also you can switch to it whenever you're being focused and hit hard.
@TheWazzen mmm I don't know how you think you will get more heals from unholy presence. It's personal preference, they like the pressure it puts out, I think it is good if you're playing as utility and just spamming chains of ice, but I wouldn't recommend wasting runes for scourge strike with it unless you're certain that it is necessary. Probably better to just spam chains of ice and setup kills for your partners in unholy, but even then, your dmg is 15% less (from blood).
@Darkal1996 A lot of those high hits (7k+) are against people with little or no resilience.
Goto arenajunkies (dot) com and goto their forums and read the DK section for tips. Study the rankings at that website and look at the high rated DK's, see how they gear and spec... Keep diseases up on everyone, keep UnholyBlight from DC up, DoT > Burst for DK's in arena, play 3v3 or 5v5 and just spam Chains of ice, setup a kill with a gnaw into strangulate.
@IIStEEDYII This was an old UI, I use default UI now but I still have similar binds... There are only three deathcoil buttons, one is normal, the other is a self-heal macro, and the third is to use deathcoil on my focus target. This way I don't have to change targets to use them :)
@ArcticZebraFuzz Shadow's Edge, google it, it's kind of complicated to explain, but basically you need to collect materials and do a quest. It eventually leads to getting Shadowmourne through an arduous quest chain.

@asdthing Too bad I don't really play anymore heh. My subscription expired and I don't plan to pay again at the moment. I have won a lot of duels against good players of every class (except resto druids), and I've lost too. But warriors are pretty easy in duels, I just chain of ice kite you within 6 yards and you can't charge/intercept/melee, so you are stuck doing nothing until you die from dots and death coil... pretty boring tactic but it works if I want it to. :)

@Coty1044 Thanks, I dueled hundreds of people over a long period of time to learn what to do. But generally you can get away in world PvP by just keeping diseases up and hitting them with Scourge Strike. Your crits won't look very big anymore because SS is split into two different dmg's (Physical + Shadow) so each hits for 4k and that's 8k burst. Rune Strike has a very high burst potential, that's what gave me 8k and 9k crits before. DK's are about pressure from DPS not so much burst.
I find unholy dks very useful with in 2s with an ele shammy partner. While dk cc's using Chains and desecration, shaman can easily kite and maintain distance for lava burst and burst efficiency. Plus purge on ele shaman, plus death grip away from shaman for even more ccing by dk for shaman burst
ppl say that dk's suck beacause all the lazy asses who dono how to play make dk (eazyer to get to 80 ) but there are loads of good dk's 2 mine is frost dk tank and i love playing him .. gj whit the vid man il sub 2!
DK's are just as good and just as fun as any other class. All classes have pro's and con's, all classes become boring sometimes, and all classes receive flame and QQ from people. Play what you like and enjoy it, this is a fun game, if you don't like something then try something new.
lolz at those who still whine about paladins. a paladin can't kill a healer alone like some other classes or can't just stun lock u like a rogue or have countless interrupts as a dk or something else

lol only people that play's Dk's have skills between pally's and Dk's pally's don't need skills all they do is pop up diven shield or whater ever (immune crap for like 30 seconds) and jsut go and atk your enemy
@kaze56 DK's are wonderful in duels and can perform well in arena too, but they lack the burst to kill healer setups in 2v2 unless you're going double-dps but then there are better double-dps setups to use than DK ones.
@got2nesa your right and that is why i call them underpowered, we used to murder 2v2 because our " burst " you take away the burst and you are left with a useless 2v2 partner
Limemannen, grow up and no, they don't need to learn to play, you need to open your eyes, even if rogues have a high skillcap they can destroy opponents in arena that are more skilled, just because they got such advantages. Managing cd's while tapping 2 buttons isn't "THAT" hard.

I think the reason why ppl say DKs need no skills is bacause you can be pretty bad and still do good dmg in pvp, while some classes with the same skill may suck in pvp. In the end this tends to smooth out. Still there are lots of bad dk's out there preforming quite well and therefore pissing ppl off, making them lose respect for those who actually are skilled.

Regarding people who say DK is no skill: It's WoW, no class takes "skill", it's all a hallucination, one of the traps in which Blizzard obtains subscriptions. Gear > class match-up > skill. T10 Rogue + Mage > T10 Warrior + Warlock > skilled t2 druid
DK is no more/less skillful than others, you own and you get owned
@got2nesa I agree, but a lot of the ''bad'' wow players, and kids, have rolled death knight. Just because its straight forward to play and starts at 55. Many quit lvling their 55 night elf hunter and rerolled this.
That pretty much raped the class's reputation, and though, from a hero class, we could have expected a little more, not power, but playstyle.
I agree it is limited really to apply diseases and spam death coil or plaguestrike and use cd's at appropriate times... but to be honest that is how every class is like, they all have a lame repetitive playstyle from my experience.

1) Ghoul is important in arena for vital stuns and keeping healers in combat. It also does significant DPS.
2) Blood is only good for PvE and for battlegrounds against weak classes and people without resil. In arena, you will not have any method of slowing your opponents and getting to them. You'll be kited constantly and even when you are in range you wont do enough dmg to most classes to kill them. I've tried it in 2k+... don't. Unholy is the only viable build in serious Arena PvP

@ 80, tanked for a while, didn't like tanking so I started dps'ing and then pvping, PvP is fun as DK. I get bored of WoW, but not because of DK, I would be bored of any class, the only thing I hate about DK is how everyone complains about them and says they are faceroll, which isn't true.

Rogues and Warriors are hard to beat at 80, so is a very good warlock. Mages will give you trouble too until you learn when and how to counter them and their deadly CC.
I don't know what sort of quality of rogues you're fighting, then. A good rogue will stun lock you and kite your IBF and return you to cc. He'll disarm you. He'll blind you, he'll vanish and possibly bandage. He will kill you if you aren't practiced against good rogues.
I usually beat full relentless rogues with no more than 15% of my health remaining.
ya i feel for ya im talking about in 2's not BG's. a good dk is frankly unstoppable and it shows on my server. a dk in furious set rapes a full relentless rogue and only lose about 25% hp i wish i was that beast. but practice makes perfect good vid bro and keep pwning!
I was referring to a 1v1 duel in Durotar. In BG's a good rogue can kill me faster than I kill him or his partner.
Rogues put out so much dps and pressure, not only from their high dps but also due to their MS poison... they constantly slow you with poison as well... so you move slowly, take a lot of damage, and your healer can't afford to be too relaxed unless he has a shield or hots on you and you go full defensive.

@flashdemonn Copy my 0/19/52 build from my armory link (in the description). Sit in Unholy presence unless you are getting nuked you might want to switch to Frost. You just need to practice, nobody gets 80 and immediately knows how to play their class perfectly, but it can be easy for some and harder for others. The best advice is to open your spell book and literally read every spell/ability you have... do the same with your talent tree, read each and every one and learn what is what.
(continued) ... Use Chains of Ice, never use Icy Touch in PvP. Rotation should be like Chains of Ice (CoI) > Plague Strike (PS) > Blood Strike (BS) > BS (or Pestilence if there's multiple targets) > Scourge Strike (SS) > Death Coil (DC) > DC > DC... Then you reapply Coi if you need to slow them, or hit with SS, Pestilence if you have Glyph of Disease to refresh... or if there's multiple targets you can juggle pestilence between them to keep the Diseases up with pestilence without glyph.
(continued 2) ... Use your cooldowns defensively at first, but you'll get better and learn how to use them offensively as well. For example, you know a mage is going to freeze you and nuke you or polymorph you. Use Lichborne while mage is casting polymorph and you will be immune, if you use it after he casts it, you wasted it because it doesn't break Poly. Use AMS (AntiMagicShell) to be immune to being frozen to get in range of mage, only use Death Grip when they've blinked away. Practice!!
dont you think 0/19/52 is abit weak for pvp? all my friends play 17/0/54 for pvp im a mage so i dont really know much about dks but 17/0/52 just seems to have abit more options
I would agree that 0/19/52 would be weak for pvp in 3.2 compared to 0/17/54... 17/0/54 has its own strengths, but is missing Lichborn, Chains of Ice disease, free mind freeze, extra runic power, and in the case of 19/52, it also is missing extra runic generation from coi.
0/19/52 in 3.3 works because SS doesn't hit very hard to make use of 15% dmg from blood presence, however the rate at which you do dmg and build runic power to dump Death Coil's is a lot higher in unholy presence (19/52)
@SWJMcCauley DK's have a lot of trouble soloing healing classes, especially in 3.3 more than ever. I danced with a druid for 45 minutes (the maximum time limit in arena) and he never dropped below 80% mana, it's a joke. Every 5 minutes I would have all of my cd's saved (including empowered rune weapon) and it wouldn't be enough to kill the druid with all of his hots up. That was with the normal 0/17/54 spec, I think I could possibly kill him with the 0/19/52 spec but it's still extremely hard
Druids are a faceroll i hate them with a passion, i refuse to roll one just because there so unfair, my main is a mage and a druid with resil is just a pain in the ass, there not even worth attempting to kill because there hots with 1 tic heal my crits OOO they get me some angry ahahaha luckly they dont have any strong attack spells

Unholy can burst high with procs on non-resil... It's main damage is from dots though, especially in 3.3, now I play in unholy presence and put pressure with deathcoils and constant chains of ice. It's lame but that's DK's for you... every class is lame in its own way which is why I don't bother rerolling.

You sit in Unholy presence with this build and the dps is very intense. I paid 2000 gold respecing with my arena partner and trying different builds but this is the best one by far.

You can button mash anything in WoW, but if you want to stand out as a good player then you have to practice a class until you learn a few tricks, which isn't hard either. Every class is easy in its own way.
i wana try going to that battlegroup because mines *retaliation* and its sucks really bad, i cant even BG sometimes because no one wants to so it sucks...
Well don't come to Stormscale, but goto one of the other realms on the BG. Stormscale is Full, there's always queues at peak hours... annoying server crashes/lag.
If you don't want any players (particularly Mages) resisting your strangulate/deathgrip or partial resisting damage from your magical attacks, then you should have 135 spell pen (which is the cap). I've since lowered it to 85 with my new spec in 3.3 and am using an unholy presence build which has brought me and my Shaman up to 2100 from being stuck at 2k with the normal SS build that has been used for a long time in arena... it is futile to rely on SS in 3.3
I hope it is good and people enjoy it, but regardless of whether it's good or not, you shouldn't talk to people like that, it's rude and it makes you look like you come from a bad family who doesn't know how to raise their kids. Merry Christmas to you too.

The most important thing in this game is gear... gear... gear. After gear comes talent spec, after talent spec comes skill, and after skill comes internet connection (although some may put this higher).
Get at least full furious and you'll notice you own a lot more, a lot easier. GearScore is a great addon for judging how close someone is to you in gear and then you know you will probably lose if they're higher

lol only people that play's Dk's have skills between pally's and Dk's pally's don't need skills all they do is pop up diven shield or whater ever (immune crap for like 30 seconds) and jsut go and atk your enemy

@kaze56 DK's are wonderful in duels and can perform well in arena too, but they lack the burst to kill healer setups in 2v2 unless you're going double-dps but then there are better double-dps setups to use than DK ones.

Limemannen, grow up and no, they don't need to learn to play, you need to open your eyes, even if rogues have a high skillcap they can destroy opponents in arena that are more skilled, just because they got such advantages. Managing cd's while tapping 2 buttons isn't "THAT" hard.

I think the reason why ppl say DKs need no skills is bacause you can be pretty bad and still do good dmg in pvp, while some classes with the same skill may suck in pvp. In the end this tends to smooth out. Still there are lots of bad dk's out there preforming quite well and therefore pissing ppl off, making them lose respect for those who actually are skilled.

For everyone asking questions, just expand all of the comments because I've already answered most of them. Also a lot can be found about macros by searching Google.
Regarding people who say DK is no skill: It's WoW, no class takes "skill", it's all a hallucination, one of the traps in which Blizzard obtains subscriptions. Gear > class match-up > skill. T10 Rogue + Mage > T10 Warrior + Warlock > skilled t2 druid
DK is no more/less skillful than others, you own and you get owned

@got2nesa I agree, but a lot of the ''bad'' wow players, and kids, have rolled death knight. Just because its straight forward to play and starts at 55. Many quit lvling their 55 night elf hunter and rerolled this.
That pretty much raped the class's reputation, and though, from a hero class, we could have expected a little more, not power, but playstyle.

I agree it is limited really to apply diseases and spam death coil or plaguestrike and use cd's at appropriate times... but to be honest that is how every class is like, they all have a lame repetitive playstyle from my experience.

1) Ghoul is important in arena for vital stuns and keeping healers in combat. It also does significant DPS.
2) Blood is only good for PvE and for battlegrounds against weak classes and people without resil. In arena, you will not have any method of slowing your opponents and getting to them. You'll be kited constantly and even when you are in range you wont do enough dmg to most classes to kill them. I've tried it in 2k+... don't. Unholy is the only viable build in serious Arena PvP

Stick to Unholy, you can look at my armory in the video description and copy my spec.
I use ~88 spell penetration and I don't use any armor penetration.
Sit in unholy presence and rely on deathcoil dumping for damage.

I really loved the class from 55-80.
@ 80, tanked for a while, didn't like tanking so I started dps'ing and then pvping, PvP is fun as DK. I get bored of WoW, but not because of DK, I would be bored of any class, the only thing I hate about DK is how everyone complains about them and says they are faceroll, which isn't true.

Rogues and Warriors are hard to beat at 80, so is a very good warlock. Mages will give you trouble too until you learn when and how to counter them and their deadly CC.

I don't know what sort of quality of rogues you're fighting, then. A good rogue will stun lock you and kite your IBF and return you to cc. He'll disarm you. He'll blind you, he'll vanish and possibly bandage. He will kill you if you aren't practiced against good rogues.
I usually beat full relentless rogues with no more than 15% of my health remaining.

ya i feel for ya im talking about in 2's not BG's. a good dk is frankly unstoppable and it shows on my server. a dk in furious set rapes a full relentless rogue and only lose about 25% hp i wish i was that beast. but practice makes perfect good vid bro and keep pwning!

I was referring to a 1v1 duel in Durotar. In BG's a good rogue can kill me faster than I kill him or his partner.
Rogues put out so much dps and pressure, not only from their high dps but also due to their MS poison... they constantly slow you with poison as well... so you move slowly, take a lot of damage, and your healer can't afford to be too relaxed unless he has a shield or hots on you and you go full defensive.

@flashdemonn Copy my 0/19/52 build from my armory link (in the description). Sit in Unholy presence unless you are getting nuked you might want to switch to Frost. You just need to practice, nobody gets 80 and immediately knows how to play their class perfectly, but it can be easy for some and harder for others. The best advice is to open your spell book and literally read every spell/ability you have... do the same with your talent tree, read each and every one and learn what is what.

(continued) ... Use Chains of Ice, never use Icy Touch in PvP. Rotation should be like Chains of Ice (CoI) > Plague Strike (PS) > Blood Strike (BS) > BS (or Pestilence if there's multiple targets) > Scourge Strike (SS) > Death Coil (DC) > DC > DC... Then you reapply Coi if you need to slow them, or hit with SS, Pestilence if you have Glyph of Disease to refresh... or if there's multiple targets you can juggle pestilence between them to keep the Diseases up with pestilence without glyph.

(continued 2) ... Use your cooldowns defensively at first, but you'll get better and learn how to use them offensively as well. For example, you know a mage is going to freeze you and nuke you or polymorph you. Use Lichborne while mage is casting polymorph and you will be immune, if you use it after he casts it, you wasted it because it doesn't break Poly. Use AMS (AntiMagicShell) to be immune to being frozen to get in range of mage, only use Death Grip when they've blinked away. Practice!!

dont you think 0/19/52 is abit weak for pvp? all my friends play 17/0/54 for pvp im a mage so i dont really know much about dks but 17/0/52 just seems to have abit more options

I would agree that 0/19/52 would be weak for pvp in 3.2 compared to 0/17/54... 17/0/54 has its own strengths, but is missing Lichborn, Chains of Ice disease, free mind freeze, extra runic power, and in the case of 19/52, it also is missing extra runic generation from coi.
0/19/52 in 3.3 works because SS doesn't hit very hard to make use of 15% dmg from blood presence, however the rate at which you do dmg and build runic power to dump Death Coil's is a lot higher in unholy presence (19/52)

@SWJMcCauley DK's have a lot of trouble soloing healing classes, especially in 3.3 more than ever. I danced with a druid for 45 minutes (the maximum time limit in arena) and he never dropped below 80% mana, it's a joke. Every 5 minutes I would have all of my cd's saved (including empowered rune weapon) and it wouldn't be enough to kill the druid with all of his hots up. That was with the normal 0/17/54 spec, I think I could possibly kill him with the 0/19/52 spec but it's still extremely hard

Druids are a faceroll i hate them with a passion, i refuse to roll one just because there so unfair, my main is a mage and a druid with resil is just a pain in the ass, there not even worth attempting to kill because there hots with 1 tic heal my crits OOO they get me some angry ahahaha luckly they dont have any strong attack spells

Unholy can burst high with procs on non-resil... It's main damage is from dots though, especially in 3.3, now I play in unholy presence and put pressure with deathcoils and constant chains of ice. It's lame but that's DK's for you... every class is lame in its own way which is why I don't bother rerolling.

You sit in Unholy presence with this build and the dps is very intense. I paid 2000 gold respecing with my arena partner and trying different builds but this is the best one by far.

You can button mash anything in WoW, but if you want to stand out as a good player then you have to practice a class until you learn a few tricks, which isn't hard either. Every class is easy in its own way.

If you don't want any players (particularly Mages) resisting your strangulate/deathgrip or partial resisting damage from your magical attacks, then you should have 135 spell pen (which is the cap). I've since lowered it to 85 with my new spec in 3.3 and am using an unholy presence build which has brought me and my Shaman up to 2100 from being stuck at 2k with the normal SS build that has been used for a long time in arena... it is futile to rely on SS in 3.3

Nice vid mate :) I recently started a DK on Al'Akir (EU PvP realm) to play with a mate, and i'm unholy, after getting ganked up for a while i was tempted to change specs, but i went on youtube, found this vid, and it gave me faith in unholy, so i went back after watching and kicked the crap out of every ally i ran into :)

The most important thing in this game is gear... gear... gear. After gear comes talent spec, after talent spec comes skill, and after skill comes internet connection (although some may put this higher).
Get at least full furious and you'll notice you own a lot more, a lot easier. GearScore is a great addon for judging how close someone is to you in gear and then you know you will probably lose if they're higher
