Fascinating contrast to the ultra-smooth Ambrose version, and Payne's handling of the vocal is interesting too - perhaps the band's experience with broadcasting novelty tunes was responsible for the dramatic treatment?

Wondered if you knew Foster Richardson sung on some Jack Payne,s record,s.
