@Bevoin1970 Thinking of doing the same thing myself. 85% of my working day is on the road so distance isn't a problem. Do you work through an agency? There are loads of websites promising the earth but I'm wary. Any advice? Thanks.
@whitbyjet65 You would need to get your vehicle first, then contact local courier firms in your area, close to where you live, hoping they will send some work your way. Its tough going especially at the present moment, but you just have to stick with it. I don't touch the internet myself for work.
@Bevoin1970 Just been reading some websites that are putting me off. Saying it's a cut throat industry and the money's gone out of it etc. Trouble is, the price of fuel must be killing it for you guys.
@whitbyjet65 Sure is cut throat all right, some people work for Peanuts but then 18 months down the road are no longer in business.
Price of fuel is passed onto the customer, not good I know, but thats the way it is, you just have to drive more carefully and try and save diesel where you can.
Esher [with WestEnd] is in our 'patch' but all the smaller towns in Surrey/Sussex are nice and we hope to keep it that way. We'll be tripping out to one this sunny day for a spot of lunch ;-))))
Well I hope I have painted my journey to Esher in a positive light? It certainly looked a marvellous place to live, your lucky, I often visit Surrey from up in the Midlands and I always enjoy the trip. Have a nice day... :-)
hey you wouldn't be a courier without a chip in the windscreen, thought it was compulsory. Although mine having only done 2700 miles still is awaiting its first one, Told you you would like Esher, no credit crunch around there, next junction on the A3 is where all the Chelsea players live and lots of pop stars, once delivered 14 plasma TVs to one house there, well come mansion really ..nice to see the M25 moving, just did my boring delivery in Ascot Bracknell today ! drive safe
Ha Ha, I've always got chips in mine. I have to have a new screen once a year. 14 Plasmas in one house ! That's astonishing !!!! makes you sick.... Credit Crunch, I got sick of seeing Chelsea Tractors everywhere.... :-) Yes both M25, M40 were all fine yesterday, thankfully. And as for my screen, well it looks like new all over again, for the moment anyway.. Ha ha
I bet they do. What you didn't see was all the Black 4 x 4 that seemed to be everywhere. Would loved to have visited that pub then sat by that pond wasting my time ha ha......
Thanks. I was told famous footballers and Chris Tarrent live there, the camera doesn't quite capture the true look of a place not like your eyes do as you look around...
Are you an independent courier?

@whitbyjet65 Yes work alone, a one man band as they say... :-)

Love Esher! I have lived there my entire life (until I went to university in Hertfordshire) and was always appreciative of its beauty and history.

Great vid thanks Esher a really lovely place. I was born and grew up there in the 1950's.
Used to walk the 2 miles to West End every Sunday across the farmland - cows used to chase us!
Idyllic hot and quiet by the duckpond pub was lovely and cool - Dad gave me my first sup of ale there.
Still have the same pitch roller - amazing!, school sports there.
Now live in Cornwall also beautiful and peaceful.

It's alot of fun. Even though what you do is part of your work, there's no reason why it can't be fun.
