  • I find your reply to be arrogant and self serving. Nothing will ever justify your language but most of all your total disrespect for music written to be sung in a house of God. One day you might just regret your comments.

  • This setting makes you glad to be a Tenor.

  • this setting is the fucking daddy of all services

  • @ThePrinceofParody st pauls is the fffffffuckkkking daddy!

  • @ThePrinceofParody st pauls is the fffffffuckkkking daddy! when I was at bristol cathedral the boys always fucked up in practice so they didn't have to sing it.....how sad is that?

  • @ThePrinceofParody Your language is an absolute disgrace and you should be ashamed to use it in the context of religious music. Grow up and show some dignity!

  • @mibi1946 there is no higher praise to a piece of music than calling it the f**ing d*addy (censored for your benefit). It's only language - I didn't even blaspheme - then you might have legit protest!

  • Judging by the timing, this is from a recording by The Collegiate Singers, directed by Andrew Millinger, "Herbert Howells: Complete Morning and Evening Services, Vol 2" released in 1997.

  • Gloucester Cathedral did not commission this setting. Howells just wrote it, just like Neil Cox has recently done.

  • Love the Howells setting and the photography

  • Choir sounds like a girls choir - not boys. Just a guess. Does Gloucester have girls? Or maybe a group like Selwyn College Cambridge Choir . . .

  • Wow. i love this , i can Not stop listening ! Very mysterious !

  • I attended Evensong at Gloucester last year. Unforgettable.

  • Who's the choir?

  • Probably not commissioned actually. Howells was an organ pupil in Gloucester so knew the cathedral, and its wonderful accoustics well.

There are some great shots in the accompanying video, but some aren't Gloucester! 4:08 is Tewkesbury Abbey, which shares some architectural features.
