hey man that's cool ,could you tell me what's the name of de song that you're using ? not the backgrownd, the scratching song ,if some one knows please help, i need it to practice...
can you scratch with any record?what if i just want the scratching sounds, not the music playing from the record?this question might be pretty dumb but im beggining so plz comment back someone.and how do i incorperate my beat from a beatmaker with scratching?
hi my name is kayla i am 14 years old and 3 years ago a blind girl killed me so post this to `15 vids or next time i will kill you when you are in a shower
I haven't owned one thing from numark that worked over a year without major problems. Numark makes some of the worst dj'ing equipment I have ever wasted my money on.
I agree with you to a point, The Numark PRO SMX mixer is different, I have had Vestax, Stanton and Allan and Heath mixers in the past, The new Numark SMX gives all above, a run for the money, The only brand I would say is better is RANE. But I was not prepared to spend $800.00 on a mixer
I am not BS I had a Allan and heath Xone 202, and it was piss poor, I returned it to the store, and replaced it with a PMC 05 which was much better. All I said is the new Newmark Pro SMX is a good mixer, and value for money. It has a Pro X Fader to boot also. Long gone are the days of having to buy high end gear. in fact Technics no longer make the SL-1200 due to poor sales. Sad I know. but its true.
good to know, need to re-up soon , had my eye on the djm 909 but damn that shit is almost 2500 with taxes, and now that i know the xone 02 is garbage can narrow down my choices
not true , i started off with tt1's and they lasted me for a good 3 years, shit i still have them in my closest, if it weren't for my new pair of pdx 3000 , i'd still be using them , the company that makes garbage is gemini , i bought that Ikey and it lasted me 2 weeks before the buttons stop working
i am not a dj, lets start with that, but why do you need it to be at the beginning of the sound? i mean you're shutting off the sound to it anyhow, so that would effectively be the same thing? its just an inaudible noise unless you get something with some vocals or something
@adammurphy if you start on the sound, you are dragging the start of the sound which while it can sound good in some instances, it doesn't work with chirps. A chirp is short and sharp at the start and finish. You can do it from the middle of the sound but you need to use the crossfader in and out instead of just out (twice the work for the same sound).
What?lol you already put a comment like that coz you review all this comments and found mine, and now you think i only go for the LOOKS?..You my friend are a wanker,im not gonna buy something that is expensive but the specifications are same as the cheap ones.AND FOR THE RECORD I MODIFY TURNTABLES SO JUST CHILL I KNOW WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT BUDDY
Weak?..the kid was asking for a premium SETUP not a EXPENSIVE OLD TECHNICS i think your are Weak...i rather buy NUMARK than TECHNICS TECHNICS IS TOO COMMON ALREADY WHO WANTS TO LOOK THE SAME?im the only DJ that have a DECK that dont look like any others,i did some modofications to it
Yes it can work for live sets, duh its a TURNTABLE AND A MIXER,i know what you trying to say,NUMARK is a good product too,HAVING A TECHNICS TURNTABLE IS REALLY COMMON COZ THEY THINK ITS THE FERRARI OF TURNTABLES BUT THE TRUTH IS MOST OF ANY TURNTABLE BRAND HAVE THE SAME SPECIFICATIONS OF THE TECHNICS TURNTABLE(DIRECT DRIVE)
I dont need to buy a old 1200,i fix and modify these things every weekdays for a living, now im a Dj and a producer marketing my own music, you judge to quick buddy slow down
Vestax VCI-300 with serato itch... assuming you have a laptop to use... 700 bucks on ebay. thats what i use. FX module coming out soon! Video maybe in the spring or summer.
Get Technic SL-1200 MKII nothing is better than that late 70's design don't believe all the hype with the little new features, they are garbage and gimick.
Buy a Vestax PMC06 if you want to save money if you got money buy a Rane mixer.
I bought these off craigslist/ebay for under 600 bucks used in great condition. I don't recommend buying new because people want to dj but then find out it is an actual skill and don't want to practice so they sell new stuff cheap.
@chaosproject13 You could spend $1000's but you don't need to - not if you're starting out. You may love the idea of dj'ing but not enjoy doing it in which case second hand turntables you can probably get what you paid for them if you sell them. If you are on a budget, spend another $300 on mixvibes or serato. Sounds expensive but once you have it you rarely (if ever) need to buy any vinyl (which ain't cheap)

punkrock dude, don't be fooled.. this dude is an asshole fo sho
i never even touched a turntable, but i want one, so ur right u do have to start somewhere! o yea and wat kinda turntable would u suggest? i'm probably going to get a Numark X2
@rissacher Did you get one yet? If not, yeah, Numark do some good stuff. They do DJ-In-A-Box for $300-$400. Invest in a system like Mixvibes or Serato as well. Great for beginners to learn the basics on and for pros to play live on. Vinyl can be pricey, so the $300 for mixvibes is a good investment. Resale is good so if you get sick of it in a few months you wont lose much (hopefully this won't be the case).
You should hold the record lightly so that you don't stop the plater. I don't know this for sure, but I think that it's not a good thing if the plater stops because it takes it a little bit more time to start going again at its pre-set speed (Which will turn out to be a bitch is your trying to beat match).
the platter is always spinning - unless you do scratches with the power off (ie. tweak scratch)-you have to have a slipmat on the platter to cut down the friction between the platter and the record.

you can do this with the crossfader closed as well, you will need to adjust the curve on the crossfader to enable to get the correct sound.

tlizzer- the plater spins. he is just holding the record so it does not move with the plater, but lightly enough so it doesnt stop the platter.
chadillac745 4 years ago
hey so i gotta question, when you scratch is the platter actually spinning or is it just stationary and all you spin is the record?
tlizzer 4 years ago
You should hold the record lightly so that you don't stop the plater.
